I'll be moving to Portland in about 11 months. What kind of emissions rules do you have out there. ( visual inspection, etc....)

Where in the Portland area will you be living? You could end up living across the river in WA. In WA they only test for CO and HC, not NOX. There isn't a visual inspection either although before you can license the car you will have to take it to the State Patrol to verify your VIN numbers match and ensure the car hasn't been stolen.

Anyhow, try posting your question to the Northwest forum at www.nwsr20de.com. There are quite a few Oregon people there... the list owner is from the Portland area.

Alright, another Oregonian!! Hope the move goes smoothly... Portland is a great place to live... are you going to AutoX?

Watch out for a little nx2000 on the roads...

Autoxer7:

Thanks for the info. I don’t know where in Portland I’ll be living

Nxanna:

Thanks for the BIG welcome. I hope the move will go we too.

I plan to auto-x, and maybe rally-x in my beater.

Watch out for an ex-Californian in a graphite Sentra with Okie
plates.

As said above, we get dinged for CO/NOX/THC, they also look for visible smoke, and sensor lights on the dash. If you get some anal ass-clown, they might do an inspection for altered or missing equipment like EGR items under the hood, the odds of that are pretty slim though...

-Travis (I hate the DEQ, and the greasy beaurocrat (sp?) that set the standards... I mean, really, if a 1987 car was meant to be on the border of passing when it was new, how the f*** am I supposed to make it cleaner?)

I had no idea there were other PDX people on here... anyone end up out on PIR for AutoX August 3rd?

I don't care much for the surface at PIR... too small and too bumpy. Ever run at Bremerton? It's where we have th Nat Tour every year. Better surface and gobs of room.

Naw I haven't. I have, actually, yet to take my NX out on any event. I drove a '92 miata and then most recently tried out a '00 M-Coupe (nothing like a miata.. talk about torque). Anyway, I am a bit low on tire funds so it is a true treat to go autoXing. Have to wait for my engineering to fund my spendy hobbies... and ski season is picking up! Choices, choices...

I can't really complain about PIR since it is near and all I know currently.... perhaps I should look into Bremerton. When do you usually run there?

Check out the schedule at www.wwscc.org Click on the calendar icon on the left. Next events at Bremerton are Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend.

They even list the Oregon PIR events.

I am surprised at how many live Oregon. The only few SE-R owners know are my buddies in vancouver WA. Maybe we should have a meet. Everyone's probably seen me before N-E wayz. I drive the the black '91 sentra with the aluminum wing and white wheels.
