: FMAX BOV Recirc hose part number?
Turbo91SER 08-21-2002, 10:10 PM Hello,
I am trying to get my car ready to start and I have been looking for the BOV recirc hose for a FMAX kit. I have been to all the parts stores locally and they all look at me like I have been smoking crack or something.
I know the hose needs to be 15"-16" long and 2" on one end and 1 3/4" on the other. I was hoping someone would have a part number, manufacturer or even what auto parts they might have gotten it from.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
andris 08-22-2002, 12:47 AM AFAIK, the Fmax hose is the same size on both ends. Its not something you will get at an auto parts store, rather you will need to get it from a hose-supply type of place. It is very flexible and is ribbed (with wire i believe). You should be able to just order it by the foot. Try mcmaster.com

You got pics? Did you get a radiator hose that had the correct sizes on each end? (they do make rad hoses that are different sizes on each end)
I have recently been thinking of doing this as the FMAX supplied hose SUCKS. When I installed mine the 1 3/4 end tore as we tightened it down and it has had electrical tape on it since that day. :(
I wonder if the radiator hose because it's thicker, quiets the BOV down? I hope not. I love hearing mine.
Another thing to consider is does the hose have the spiral wire to keep it from collapsing like the FMAX hose? They make rad hose (the flex kind with the bellows) that has the wire in it. If collapsing is a problem, I had thought about buying a hose like this just to take the wire out of it and putting it in whatever hose I'm using.
Jackson Diamond 08-22-2002, 11:24 AM THe hose was the same on both ends. I cut a slit on the bottom of the hose in the end that connects to the HKS bypass valve, so when i tightened it down it had room to colapse. Then i took black silcone sealent and put a little in on the bottom so i wouldent have any leaks. I havent hed any problems with it collapsing (even at 17psi) I will try to get some pics up.

I found a perfect radiator house at AutoZone of all places. Just ask the monkeys to let you peruse the hoses hanging up on the wall in the back.
Cost was $5-6, IIRC. No collapsing problems I know of, either.
Wish I'd have known you were having problems with your hose when we talked in Nashville. I'd have shown you that radiator hose, maybe gotten a PN off the side.
Turbo91SER 08-22-2002, 01:17 PM It looks like I found the right hose for all of us with the FMAX kit.

Post pics of it! Uninstalled and installed. How much can you cut it down? Where does it taper at? Is it 2" all the way and just tapers just at one end to 1 3/4"?
I anyone needs to know the heater hose part numbers for PERFECT factory like setup for the S13 KA24DE to SR20DET swap let me know. This past weekend I also went 'behind the counter' at Autozone and installed them. It was also a conversion from one size to another, with one hose needing to be a complete 180 which I found!
Turbo91SER 08-22-2002, 02:23 PM Thomas,
I will try and get some tonight.
BTW, speaking of pictures, did you ever get any pictures of your Greddy Oil Separator Set-up?

AHHH! You caught me! I have your message in my OE Inbox about the pics staring me in the face daily. I'm sorry. I have that message in there as a reminder.
I don't have a digital camera. I always borrow my father's. He was over last night and told me he's coming over again Sunday to take some pics of my car to show my relatives in Spain (leaving next Friday). I will have some then.
Turbo91SER 08-22-2002, 07:44 PM I posted a link in the post above for a picture to see it installed.
93BlackBird 08-23-2002, 12:42 PM you can also buy from napa something called universsal hose. And you can bend this to your desired shape and cut to length

Well that's true Carlos but the problem lies in the fact that you need to go from one size to another.
**I have GOOD NEWS.** Jon I hope you saved your receipt!! I spent over an hour in the back of both NAPA and Autozone. Results are: I found a PERFECT length hose from Autozone. The FM77 Napa hose was just too long in my opinion.
I will post the part number tomorrow with pics.
This hose is better because:
1. Correct length.
2. Cheaper, 5 bucks!!
3. It has a wire support core to keep its shape.
4. The wire core is easily removed if you don't like it.
And I like the way it looks better. The ribs are smooth and not sharp. (You'll see what I mean tomorrow)
P.S. It was my goal to find a smooth radiator hose as replacement. We tried 5-6 hoses and finally had to drop back to the flexible rib hose in the end.
Turbo91SER 08-25-2002, 01:25 PM Thomas, I got to thinking about it and I bet the difference in the hose length is probably the fact I have a high-port motor and you are working with a low-port. I would still be interested in seeing your part number and picture as well.
Thomas Reynolds 08-27-2002, 08:56 PM Ok here it is: Autozone #1314 whereas the receipt shows '#883702 1314 Flex Rad Hose'
And here are the pics:
