: Acer Laptop Support?

Seems like I can't even get the RT ECU to install on the Acer TravelMate 8100. I originally uploaded the bin file on my Dell Latitude D820 at work, but now want to upload a new bin file on the Acer and ECU doesn't even get recognized when I plug it in.

Any suggestions? :)

Did you install the drivers first?

Yes sir, I installed them, reinstalled them etc.

Is there a way to completely uninstall them?

Also I must mention that with the new driver it never showed the message that driver has been installed but it didn't show it on my Dell Laptop either.

The only real difference is that the ecu is now in the car, I tried unplugging the battery, still nothing.

Maybe the USB wire got detached as I was installing the ECU cover, I tried pulling on it, it felt like it was tightly in the ECU.

Yea, if you don't see the new com ports in hardware manager check to make sure you didn't yank the cable loose. Just pop the top on the ECU, unscrew the board and bend it up out of the way.

Theres a neat little program from Microsoft called UVCView that will show you all the USB devices you have connected (and tons of other info about them), but I can't find a link to download it from. Its what I use to troubleshoot USB connectivity issues.

Looks like UVCView is part of the development kit, I don't have that so no go for me haha.

I'm going to hook up my Dell laptop tomorrow and see how it goes. I'm not sure if I want it to work or not. If it works then my laptops at home are worthless for the RT, if it doesn't work that means I have to work on removing that POS plastic that covers the ECU. Double edged swords :ugh:

Tried work laptop, nothing, looks like I'll be removing the ECU cover once again :(

I'll prop open the ECU and check the cable, is there anything I should look out for that might pop out of place when I remove the daughter board?

No, its really straight forward. All the connectors can only go in one place. You'll notice that the USB cable is zip tie'd inside the ECU, make sure and replace the zip tie if you have to cut it. After you install the ECU in your car put a loop in the cable and zip tie it to something as an additional strain relief.

Sweet, will do, while I'm in there should I cut off the EGR delete and Rear o2 delete since I'll be hooking those back up?

P.S. at least you used zipties, Apple loves to use yellow crappy tape EVERYWHERE
