autocrosser 08-22-2002, 03:11 PM Can anyone recommend a good oem muffler. I bought my classic with a stillen already on it, and guess what, it's rusted out. I think I'm going to go back to the sleeper look and sound. A good stainless replacement would be the best. Dealer in town wants $150 for the oem muffler. I'm sure I can get cheaper, but need help. Thanks. - Jamie jomama 08-22-2002, 03:14 PM is there any reason for you to prefer and oem muffler over a run-of-the-mill meineke one? at least meineke will give you a lifetime warrantee on parts! performance is apparently not an issue for you, right? autocrosser 08-22-2002, 03:58 PM Actually I use the car for autocrossing, but I have read the the stock exhaust does a pretty good job and aftermarket ones only add a few hp to the top end. In autocrossing, bottom end power is much more important. Forgive my limited knowledge on this, but wouldn't a meineke muffler create more backpressure than the oem?
