as some of you know, just recently i put my car up for sale. reason was i found a pacific sun blue 1997 nissan 200sx se-r at a local dealership. unfortunatly, the car costed $8995 and insurance was going to be $1000/6 months for full coverage. that meant almost $400/month in payments. i can't afford that for the life of me. anyways, i was having a conversation with my dad the other night, and he mentioned something interesting.

"ryan. why don't you just take out a loan and pay a nice shop to fix your rust problems and put on a nice coat of a white color. heck, get a nice color of white. while you're doing that, just go ahead and take out extra money and have your car lowered. then you have your car, which you love, and it'll look awesome again."

needless to say, i told my dad i loved him and left. ;)

now, i'm expecting anywhere from $2500-$4000 in loan money here because of the body work it'd take. my car has a couple of rust spots that would need to be replaced with new metal. as far as colors go, i was thinking of championship white (on the acura integra type-r) as it's my favorite color ever made.

to keep going, i had a couple of questions. how much does the nissan sunny front bumper cost, and where is a place you can order them from? my bumper has some damage i'd rather the shop not putty up. also, tsuru lights? think it'd be worth it?

as you can see, i'm not concerned about the cost really. i have intentions of keeping this car for a while once i get her problems fixed. the sentimental value of this car is out the roof. as far as getting out what i've paid for, i was screwed over on that the day my 2nd gear synchro went out. in total, i've probably put $1200-$1500 bucks into this car. i could probably only sell it for $100 over what i paid for it (i paid $3100 for it back in january).

anyhoo, what other whites are out there that are awesome? any suggestions before i go out and do this?

thanks.

I've found some of the paints that Acura uses to have sort of an orange peel look from the factory. I don't know if this applies to the Championship white, as I haven't seen one up close, but my friend's new RSX in black has that look, as well as all of the RSX's I just saw at the meet.

I say try VW's Alpine white. Their paint looks GORGEOUS when it comes out of the factory. Hell, my mom's 95 still looks new and after I wax it she gets asked if it is new.

For a headturning white, try Audi's Pearl White. German's pick some nice paint :) (no, i'm not German)

Sweet! Good to hear you're keeping the Se-R. I may be doing the same thing you are once I move a little farther out of the city. Keep us up to date as to what everything costs and stuff. I think you should go for the Tsuru headlights and tails and a 93/94 bumper.

You could also look at the Pearl White that came on the 300Z, and it also had an alpine-type white, which could be your color now.

The Sunny bumper comes with a crappy reinforcent bumper, its a 3mph one instead of the 5mph one like the US Sentra. The Sunny bumper is actually shorter than the US one also, and you cannot fit the US 5mph bumper behind it. So if you were to get in a wreck with the Sunny bumper, expect more damage.

Ryan,
I think you are doing the right thing. The classic is the real mans car anyway. Alot more raw and to the point.
Get that stuff fixed and kep the car.

I think you can get the Tsuru front lites for like 350 now from Greg V at mossy nissan. This would be a really cool way to gofor you. I think it would totally set your car apart and if for no other reason than the better lighting that is provided by the newer lens'.

I love the Sunny super saloon front bumper. I don't think i have ever seen a pic of the two together on a car but i think it would look really sharp. I did see a photoshop of a setup like this one time and it looked really nice.

Have you considered the Cloud white or the pearl white that came on the B15 cars? I remember seeing them at the convention but i can't remember which was the better looking color. One is kinda Blah and the other looks really sharp.

Later man.

Ford has a very bright white call " Performance White"
It is the brightest white I have ever seen point blank.

Don't ever leave out Ford's Wimbelton white that they used on the Shelby's during the 60's.
It is supposed to be one of the whitest whites available.... often referred to as"refridgerator white".
