: Suggestions for a Shifter Light
SE-R Newbie 08-23-2002, 02:17 AM Well tonight at the track it has become clear to me that I am in need of a shifter light. I it is hard to pay attention to the track and the tack while going down the 1320.
Can anyone suggest a good shifter light for my classic?

autometer. goto jegs.com or summit.com I think they are about $60
se-r sam 08-23-2002, 09:52 AM There is a new one out now that I plan on trying, it's made by Proform. It looks just about like the Autometer one, but it has an adj. dial instead of the pills. $42 from Summit.
SE-R Newbie 08-23-2002, 12:49 PM Hey se-r sam,
Do you know of any pictures of the Proform shifter light? I tried looking on the web but could not find any.
Thanks

se-r sam 08-23-2002, 01:01 PM Sorry, no pics. If you want to see it, pick up a copy of the catalog.
Thats the only place I've seen pics.

sr20deMike 08-23-2002, 03:27 PM I have a warning lite pretty small(about half the size of a sharpie marker) connected to a rpm switch that actually controls the rpms with pills. I mounted the light square in the middle of the gauge cluster and the rpm switch in the glove box. It was more money, I believe it cost me about $120.

Just click on the "SHIFTLIGHT" link. They're $50, are programable for 4, 6, 8 or coil cylinder engines. They are also programmed w/ DIP switches to whatever rpm you want within 100 rpm increments. This is a pic of mine mounted to my autometer tach...

Racerlinn 08-26-2002, 01:01 PM I've had a "Harlan" as well for about two years. Works great.
But, it's a side business for him so expect to have to "check in" with him a couple times before you get it.
eliterit 08-26-2002, 01:51 PM heres a scanned pic of the proform shift light from the latest summit catalog

i am also considering buying this instead of the autometer since i dont have to buy the pills, which would cost extra, plus this shift light cost like 20 bucks less,, which saves me about a total of about 40 bucks i think. I just dont know if its a good product though, since i never heard about them... maybe some of the older domestic crowd might know more about them.
se-r sam 08-26-2002, 02:16 PM I know 2 people using the Proform right now, they have nothing but good things to say about it. One is in an 11 sec. Malibu, and the other is in a tubbed s10 Blazer. Both have steel motor mounts and will vibrate your teeth out, but won't mess with the shift light.:D
eliterit 08-26-2002, 02:48 PM heres a website where there's proform shift lights and tachometers.

SE-R Newbie 08-27-2002, 01:39 PM I just bought the Proform shifter light. Once I get it and install it I will take some pictures as I just ordered a digital camera so now I can take some pictures of the future upgrades :D .
