I've got a classic (recent buy) that needs some touching up. All the wheels are in great shape, but the center caps are almost white as most of the paint on them has washed off/faded.

Where can I get the paint, what type, and what specific color/paint code?

Thanks for any and all help! :)

I used Rustoleum (sp?). I forgot the specific color but there is one that matches very well. You can get the paint at any hardware store, like Home Depot or Lowes.

Um...take the center caps off, go to walmart, get some 99 cent silver paint, and paint them. I would not worry about getting fancy paint. If they start to get all faded again, paint them again.

lol no dont buy the 99 cent paint... i tried that and they didnt match for shit! lol... i ended up using dutch boys "instant chrome"... worked really good and is almost a perfect match... the only thing is i gotta take em off when i wash the car or the soap discolors them.... i even tried clear coat but that ruined the color...

Rustoleum: Aluminum finish. Perfect match.

Old thread back from the dead...

For those of you with stock wheels and sh*tty yellowed wheel covers, do this!!!

I thought it would turn out all ghetto looking, but it took about 1/2 hour total and the match is damn good.

I used a little bit of acetone and fine steel wool to strip off what little paint was left, washed, dried, and sprayed 2 light coats.

Rustoleum Aluminum (7715).

Make sure to get that one, there are other Rustoleum "metal" colors, but they are too bright.

Perfect timing. Was going to buy some new ones. I'll try this first.

Thanks!
