Don't worry, I am still in the process of turboing the 200SX.

Good buy...but bah! I would have gone the way of the 350 :D

Nah, the 200 is still getting the turbo. Actually most of the parts are in the mail or on order.

As for the 350. One of the requirements my wife and I had were that it be a convertable. I wanted something that was very capable out of the box, I felt the S2000 foot this bill nicely.

No mods. for the stook though, maybe minor stuff. New fluids, break pads, like I said. Nothing major.

I still haven't driven one of those. It's on my list so I will get to it. I bet you will love the RWD-handling-engine-brakes-convertible-seats-the list goes on. I am a little jealous. Who cars who makes the thing if you ask me.

Nooooo you traitor =)

I like Hondas =)
S2000's are cool, but they look like girl cars like Miatas, MR2s, Del Sols... but all are very capable cars, that I'd drive regardless.

I guess its time to start whooping up the track in autocross with the 2000 huh?

I have a good friend who's a service rider for a Honda dealership in town. He's told me nothing but horror stories about the motor and trannies in that thing. People that usually drive them hard, and blow the motors go see him.

He said that the machine shop that fixes the heads for the car told him that the head is so poorly built that it shouldn't be wrapped passed 6500 RPM (Redline at 8500). The valve guides can't handle the high RPM and give out. He says most of them that come in w/ no compression in the cylinders have the valves sitting on TOP OF THE PISTON when they pull the head off, and the valve guide is pulled thru the head completely. Also, the tranny is probably one of the weakest trannies Honda makes. Pops them left and right... Kinda Ironic w/ all that "torque" the S2000 has, huh?

Anyway, I think they're cool cars as far as looks go... but mechanically, they're proving to be worse than Fords and Chevys.

I've heard about the #4 piston problem, and the issues with the rear diff. but the head being poorly designed. That is a crock. ANyway, I'll take care of it, so we'll see if it breaks ;)

After reading again, sounds like a load of crap. Service writer? The people who's job it is to try and get you to do things you don't need?

Anyway, it red-lines at 9000 and revs there happily. Why would head design limit how high it revs. Granted the valve train components could limit this, but the valves, springs, cams were all designed to rev that high.

The bottom end would shake itself to death if it was not designed to rev that high, but the rods and crank do not appear to be a problem either.

EVERY car has horror stories, INCLUDING the SR20 equipped cars.

Saying that the motor sucks because a few people have blown them up is like saying all SR20's are pieces of shit because the trannies are weak. Point is, most of these failures are driver dependant.

Thats funny, cause the same thing was happening to the RSX-S when it first came out... Most of it was due to the owners not being used to a six speed transmission... of course, when you have a car that makes most of its power in the high revs, youre gonna be in that area most of the time... So naturally, when shifting your gonna be at or near redline. Being that close to redline a downshift would cause real big problems. Shifting hard from fifth to sixth by someone who is used to driving 5 speeds might lead to a mishift.

Looks like andy and I are gonna start a chick car club;)

Anyway, civicdragon has a point. I know someone who mis-shifted a B15SE and toasted the motor as well.

Seems that the common denominator is driver error.

an S2000 in Wisconsin? Not like we have a long season for a convertible here. WRX would have been great here in the snow.

Ist and 3rd are very, I mean very close in those mothers.
I ran a friend's RSX-S @ the drag strip one night and hit 1st. instead of 3rd.
Acura is looking for trouble with the gears being that close together......10 times closer than my Spec V.

same way with the new spec v's... all the trouble ive heard about with them seems to me that if people would drive them with a little sense these problems wouldnt happen darrens wife drives hers all the time and theyve not had any problems with it, except for the occasional flat tire hehe

I heard a rumor yesterday that honda will be phasing out the S2000. Anyone heard this? It dosent seem to make a ton of sense, I would have figure they would have put a 6cyl. in there before they took it out of thei lineup.

I hear they are gonna put a V6 in it based on what I heard from brief visits to Honda forums
