If I go, which I really, really want too. Then I will be driving and towing. I most likely will have room for 2-3 people to come with me. If I can get a group to drive down, and share a room with then I will have a better chance at actually going.

Chicago to Atlanta is about 11-12 hours. Savannah is an additional 4 hours south.

I wouldn't go through the Smokey's, it's out of the way. Just take 65 down to Nashville, 24 to Chattanooga, 75 to Macon, then 16 to Savannah. Leave around 4am and you should be in at a decent hour. Also add an hour for time change.

The mountains will add another 3+ hrs to your drive.

You can get to the hotel from here in just around 15 hours Lou. we are also driving straight through with almost no stops :)

leaving on the 26th early in the morning to get there just before 8pm

I think I might leave at around midnight on the 26th just to have plenty of time. I would like to get to the hotel around 4-5 just so I can get in my room and rest up a bit from a 15 hour drive.
