Does the clutch pedal stay on the floor or pop back out? More info.

Yeah, more detail. If the clutch cable was broke or at all the problem, your car would not go into gear. Any noises, difference in pedal feel, preceding days before the problem, etc. Any and all details.

the clutch pedal comes back up. but without much pressure.
and when it happened, it wouldnt go into gear at all. but now i can force it in. nothing happened preceding, it just came out of nowhere at a redlight.

Sometimes a throw-out bearing will stick on the end of the shaft. The clutch arm goes back and forth but the TO bearing is stuck on the end of the shaft. If your car will go through the gears with the motor off, then the clutch/flywheel asssembly is the culprit. Your gonna have to pull the tranny. A spring could have popped in the clutch, who knows. Buy a 2000 2.0 SE clutch disk, replace that and the TO bearing while your in there. Double check the clutch cable. Adjust it all the way to the firewall, make sure the cables attached to the hook on the pedal. Play around a bit with the cable before you go cracking the tranny apart. Let us know your results, problems, symptoms.
