I finally got around to installing my Pacesetter and helpin my buddy NismoNx2000 install his Gen 5 Hotshot.
The primary bolted right up no problem, but I broke the right most stud on the engine. I hardly applied force...it was probably broken before I got in there.
All the attachments fit nicely: AIV, EGR, and o2.
The downpipe fit cleanly to the cat....but the PS cat gasket felt second-rate. I remember reading that people had problems with this gasket blowing out, so I reinforced both sides of it with a cut up aluminum can. Looked ghetto *** one side was nice and silvery, while the other side said "cola" on it....hehehe. Anyway, it did the trick. No leaks there.
The poor excuse for a flex pipe sounds like its leaking a bit, I'll torque it down more tomorrow.
The only problem is that the secondary hits the front sway bar, and it rattles a bit on coasting.
Other than that, it made my car sound like a little rice rocket. I have all stock piping and cat with the NismoBorla axle-back section. It made my formerly deep, mellow note sound tinny and ricey at WOT or above 3K rpm. It looks like I'll have to have my friends at Meineke weld in a Thrush Glasspack and some new piping.
It pulls hard to 7K rpm now, whereas before it used to trail off around 6500 or so. The header is most noticeable from 3500-6000rpm, which is nice. I didn't get to go all-out, because it started raining and it was wheelspin city. But, it feels good. Not bad for $150.
