: Fixed my window regulator!

For those with classics (mine is a '91), a nice little trick for those with a broken window regulator.

I searched for a way to fix my window regulator, but I didn't find anything. So, I ask around. Apparently these things are harder to find then WMD's, and they cannot be repaired. At least that's what I was told. Either way, I head off to the junkyard looking for a 2-door Sentra. I guess the 4-door Sentra's window regulators are a different size and will not work. Unfortunately, no coupes. Five or six 4-doors though. Curiosity takes over and I take a look at the regulator in the 4-door. Hard to tell if it's smaller, but the window sure is smaller, so I figured I was told correctly. I noticed that the piece that bolts on to the window looks exactly the same. This happens to be the part that broke on mine. Plastic thingy broke and can't hold the window in place while rolling it up or down. I figured, if I can get that off, I might be able to put it on my regulator, thus fixing the problem. I mean, someone put it on, so I should be able to take it off.

Long story short, I was able to remove the sliding piece, paid $4.50 for it, and went home to see if I could install it without breaking anything. Lo and behold, it worked! I was able to remove the broken slider, and replace it with the other. Not bad for $4.50 + $2 junkyard fee.

I hope this helps anyone in my situation. If you already knew this, then I guess I'm the dumb ass who couldn't find the post.

Cheers,

Matt
