Will check them 2day or might not b able to til 2morrow *** I work all day til night time. I'll keep you guys posted. Also, my tail lights stopped working again and the stereo is out and the wires are taped w electrical tape. They worked fine for about 2 or 3 days and then I go to drive it at night again and the lights were out again. Where else should I check since the radio is out?

do the brake lights still work? or is it the rear lights period?

if they worked good when you pulled the radio, then you may have a shaved wire somewhere under the dash that when you pulled the radio it pulled the harness away from the grounding out point.

Also it could be your switch to turn the lights on. it could have bad connections in it. You would have to check for voltage out when the lights are on, and possible move it around to see if the connections are flawed.

Yea, the brake lights still work, just the tail lights and the dash lights don't. After I pulled the radio, they still worked good 4 like 2 days then it happened again. If it was the switch, wouldn't I b having problems w the headlights as well?

no because the parking lights are on a different circuit. If you notice you can turn on the parking lights without the headlights being on. So it could be the switch.

Would that cause the fuse to blow?

it could cause the fuse to blow if it spikes the current. When you have a loose connection and it is connected and not connected then connected it cause spikes in voltage and currents. So basically this can cause the fuse to blow. Especially if it is only like 15 Amp fuse.

I rechecked all the stereo wires and they are covered and so I decided to put a little bigger fuse a 20amp and I used the lights and they still are working. I'm wondering if somehow when they installed my car alarm, they probably tapped into that circuit? I dunno but it's working:)

i didnt realize you had an aftermarket alarm. if the lights stop working again check the polarity of the parking lights wire coming from the alarm relative to where they connected into the circuit.

Glad you got it working.

Thanks:) I think it's my switch though because today, my dash lights didn't come on once again so I figured the fuse blew again, So I check it and it was not popped.... So at that point, I was lost because my tail lights were still working. So I kept driving on the freeway and I reached to adjust my mirrors w the button and I accidently touched the light switch and the dash lights popped on.

yup sounds like the culprit.

Mr. Sleeper (or anyone else who's had this problem), did replacing the dimmer switch stop the fuse from blowing?
My NX2000 just started having this problem this morning.

I didn't have 2 replace the dimmer switch. But my problem was from how the aftermarket stereo was installed. If u havn't messed w any of that stuff, then check dimmer switch *** I've heard of these causing this problem.

Ive had a bit of a read through this post one thing im not sure of is with your radio do you have one of thoes plug and play harnesses? Or is it hard wired in there. If so try this. Which ever wire you have connected to your radios earth/ground wire, disconnect that and earth it directly to the car, There is a wire on most Japanese cars (iv fixed this issue on my car and few other cars) that will test as an earth but once you turn your lights on it will go live. Most people that install a radio find that wire when probing around hook it up to the ground wire on the radio and have endless problems,
Your headlights and tail lights are on different circuits. When you loose your tail lights u will loose your dash lights too.

My problem got traced back to something like what unlimitedpower mentioned.
I had connected my XM to some wiring at the bottom of the center console that was unused but came on with switched power. It didn't seem to be hooked to the lights but it did start blowing that fuse. I just need to find new wires to hook in to when I get a new XM...

I am in the same situation with the only exception that this happened after welding in a 6 pt roll bar, none of the wires are melted around the welding areas.

The strange thing is that only the stereo illumination is working (nothing else is illuminated in the car) and it works all the time, even with light switch off (ignition on).
I found a wire in the light harness, travelling next to driver seat floor from fuse box toward the rear lights, which shows +12V even without a key in the ignition and has continuity to the ground (this test was done without the light fuse). I traced it as one of the two supply (+12v) wires for the rear lights. When I cut it, it still showed +12v and ground continuity from the wires coming from the fuse box.

What do you suggest I do next, I don't mind getting rid of that wire and connecting both lights to the same supply.

Thank you for suggestions.
