Ok so all of a sudden the fuse for the tail lights just keeps blowing. My tails go out and the gauge light (speedo, rpms, gas....etc) along with the a/c light knob things and whatnot. My brake lights work fine and the headlights do but that fuse keeps blowing everytime i turn the lights on. I think there is a short somewhere but I am completely new to this car so i dont even know a good place to start. Im thinking checking the cd player for a short but id like to know the easiest way to pop that out lol. thanks for any help!

I've had multiple aftermarket stereo's in my NX and have never had that issue. Same story with the 240 I had. Is the one in it aftermarket? If the person before you put in the stereo, make sure someone didn't wire something retarded into the fuse box. What are you doing when the fuse blows? Keep an eye what you're doing when it blows and it will help us troubleshoot it for you if it goes out consistently every time you do one thing.

WIres from where? Radio wires? The fuse blows as soon as I turn the lights on.

It does sound like stereo wiring. there are two wires i think for the factory radio for lighting. Pull out the radio and see if it fixes it.

Otherwise it may be a short somewhere else.

I agree with cruisnhard pull out the radio its usually a yellow wire or it says dimmer on it... just check if you have any spliced wires behind the radio

well on the aftermarket harness they are orange and orange/white stripe.

the factory wires should be
Illumination Red/Blue
Dimmer Red/Yellow

I found the wires and they r not touching 2gether, they are actually the only 2 that r left on the factory radio connection harness. If that's normal that they r not toughing, then u have anyother place 2 suggest 4 me 2 check?

so you unplugged the radio?

If not you may also want to check at the lights at all four corners to verify nothing is pinched. Have you done any work before the lights started this.

Also to try connecting to the positive light wire under the dash for the switch to the positive on the multimeter and check for continuity to ground.

Sorry guys been super busy..... I disconnected the radio and the issue was that the yellow and red (power wires) from the radio were on the same factory wire. I took those off and pulled out the radio and everything works perfect. Now my question is, where do the illumination and dimmer lights go to from the factory harness to the aftermarket stereo? Also, what color do the red and yellow wires from the stereo (power wires) go to the factory harness (what colors)?

I am going to assume that your plugs are not there, but the yellow wire should be 12volt constant and the red is switched 12volt. A lot of aftermarket radios do not have illumination wires, but do have a dimmer wire and it will be orange or orange with white.

go to the12volt.com to find out the wires for your year model factory harness. or you can look in the manual.

Thanks:) I thought the red was the constant and the yellow was the switched?

I wasnt sure what year you have but here is a 95-96 200sx

red should be switched, unless you are working with keyless alarms, then they are red 12volts constant and yellow switched.
