: Driver window won't roll up

My driver window won't roll back up. I took the door panel off and then simultaneously held the window-up button while sort of man-handling the wire bundle, and I got it to roll back up that way, so I'm pretty sure it's not the motor. It would sort of cut in and out while I was wiggling the cable around and holding the button. So once I got it back up, I unplugged the switch panel, and it's been unplugged for a few weeks, which is a pain. Anyway, I went to the junk yard again today and came up empty handed again. So I decided maybe I'd try to fix what I have instead. But my trick for getting the window back up isn't working now! wtf?!

So I decided to try to hotwire it. I took the switch panel back off and poked around with a paper clip. The only combination I could figure out was to lock the doors. I figure if I can get the hotwire thing to work, I can at least figure out if it's the switch panel or the cable end. It seems like just a bad contact somewhere if I can just find it. I don't have 50 bucks to spend, which is on the low side of what I'm finding for prices. I'd also hate to buy a new switch panel and then not have it work.. yeah that'd suck. But for now, I'd like to get my window back up. I suspect it will be a combination of 3-4 wires, 2 for power and 2-3-4 for up-down-auto or something like that. Would be nice if it's just two though.

Look for a 98-01 Altima, window switch is the same.

Yep, and 99-04 frontier and up to 04 xterra.. believe me, I looked.. There's one more yard I want to hit maybe next weekend.. it's kinda far away, but supposedly it's huge.. I just really want to get my window up tonight, so if you know how to hotwire it, that would be awesome.. I'm about to go outside and take another crack at wiggling the cable again.. I might yank the panel itself and bring it inside and mess around with the multimeter and try to figure out the circuits a bit, but that's getting pretty desperate.

Ok, I just took another crack at it, and it didn't work.. I figured out how to hotwire the lock and unlock, but I turned on key to on and tried to find the window, and I zapped the shit out of myself, lol.. got a nice little spark and pop and burned my fingers.. I picked up the paper clip like 10 seconds later and it was still a little hot, heh.. yeah I think I'm gonna try something else

Ok, how about hotwiring it closer to the motor instead of at the big rectangular head that plugs into the switch panel?

Ok, nevermind for now.. I found an old zip of the field service manual that I downloaded ages ago, and it seems to have fairly detailed info.. I'll do some reading

Hey, Sczi, how ya doin? Not to good Sczi, but thanks for asking. Sorry to here that Sczi, but how's the wife and kids? You should know Sczi, we're the same person. Good point Sczi, so what about your car again? I'm glad you asked Sczi (pronounced like SCSI (which is pronounced like scuzzy)).

Here is the info, but I can't figure out what physical pins the numbers represent... AAAAARRRRGGG!!

This is my input, but take it for what it is...

DC motors run either up or down (direct current is directional) so if you trace the wires from the switch you should know which wire makes + to + and - to - (most likely up) and which + to - and - to + (most likely down). Send power from battery to + and - to a ground and the window should go up. Also, this will prove the motor is good.
