If I were to run a 5mm H&R wheel spacer, would the stock studs be long enough? If not, how long should they be and where can I get them? Thanks.

The H&R spacers come with longer studs. That's why they are so expensive. I don't think you really need to install them with just a 5mm spacer.

Yeah, you do. I got 60mm (they also have 50mm) NISMO studs from Courtesy - $8 a piece. I needed the 5mm spacers to fit larger-than-stock 14" snows on the rear with my Hot Bits C/overs.

According to the engineers with whom I work, you should have at least 1/2 the nut thickness protruding beyond the nut when it's torqued. 50 mm studs, SSR Comp wheels, 1/4" spacer and my rear lug nuts are flush with the end of the lug. I should be using 60 mm.

Bruce's SE-R history page (http://users3.ev1.net/~bahearn/SentraSER.htm)

Read the section starting January 2001 to see my experience with longer studs.

when I got my 5mm h&r (horseradish?) the longer bolts were actually shorter than the OEM!! Monkeys must have put them in and they didn't know the difference between nuts and bolts. I ended up using the 60mm expensive NISMO bolts. Even the 5mm are too thick for the stock rear bolts. However, 50mm is a better length, although I couldn't get them at that time.

here's my experience with H&R..

i ordered the fastbrake.com brake kit for my car and the wilwood calipers are not clearing my stock 15X6 rims even with the supplied 3mm spacers. i bought some pep-boys cheesy ghetto spacers for temp. relief, but the wheel nuts only grab the studs by a little, which i fear they might pop off.

i ordered the 5mm spacers and they fit perfectly. calipers clear the rim by ~2mm, great looks. spacers are TOP quality. those extra bolts are perfect replacement for my stock rusted ones. those bolts ARE longer when i took them out and line them up with my stock ones.

i used to run NISMO studs and paying $8/each ($64+shipping for all front studs). i think it's a steal when i paid $60 for 8 longer studs and 2 well-machined hubcentric spacers.

i had good experience with H&R.

Let me see if I understand what you are saying. The H+R spacer provides a longer studs and you use your standard bolts. Plus the 5 mm spacer is of better quaility (this is obvious from my memory of an add in an old magazine I had). Do you have a place that sells these things that you could tell me about? What if I switch between the track wheels that I need the longer studs and the street wheels that dont. Wont the longer studs prevent me from tightening everything down?

i hope i can answer your question correctly.

in my last reply, i used the word "bolts". it should've been studs. the wheel studs on our cars.

inside the H&R box, i received 2 hubscentric spacers drilled 4X100 pattern, 8 wheel studs that's longer than stock.

when i put the stock B14 wheel on my car, i have to use the H&R spacer, or else the caliper will rub my rim. since the spacer pushed my wheel out by 5mm, factory acorn nuts will fit on the longer studs perfectly.

as far as using the factory acorn nuts on the longer studs without the spacer, i personally did not get to try it because i never put on my other set of wheels. i have a set of "open" style nut if the studs are too long for the factory acorn nuts.

hope this helps.

Yes it does. One last thing. Where did you buy them from at that price? TIA

a friend ordered them for me. most places charges $65+shipping. I paid my friend $60 and shipping was free. i got a deal.

i'm not sure who my friend dealt with. most likely a local shop here who tends to rip people off. i just got a lucky hookup.

but at $65 retail, i didn't get THAT much of a saving.

OK, Bump. This is one of the best threads I found.
I am getting some 42mm wheels. I want to make sure the rears clear and push them out a but.
H&R kit for $60-something is only 2 spacers and studs? What about the fronts. Do you think i need spacers in the front as well?
The rims I want only come in 42mm.

Ian, I have the H&R 5mm ones on my rear only and they are great. I have used them with anything from 45mm to 35mm offset wheels. You might even want to go with a bigger spacer for that cool flush look. The rear of NXs always looks under-tired to me.

Check the Autocross/road/race forum, look for the 205 tire thread. It has some interesting info regarding spacer usage and wheel offsets.

This is 7.5in +35 wheels with 25mm spacer. So basically 7.5 +10. ;)
