Eh! Wait a minute there! If you bought a Hotshot Gen 5 for a '97, the AIV hole will not be there. So you will either have to remove your AIV or have a AIV threaded bung welded to the header.

Do the 5 gen not have them. I am not sure which mine is ( thought is was 5th) but it has the AIV.

Yea. I read that if you state the year of your car, Hotshot will send the header without the AIV on the newer SR20 and with the AIV bung on the '91-'94. It is posted under the classifieds section where there is the whole Group Buy thread.

I believe one guy actually had to send his back to them because he needed a AIV bung and none was on his.

My Gen 5 didn't come with the aiv hole so i simply removed it, no harm done, and now theres more room under my hood now. Dont sweat it, its realy easy to remove, its right at the front of the car.

i got my hotshot from mossy nissan in 1 wk for 400 when that group buy was going on for a couple months it had the aiv hole but it also came with a plug for it or the egr i took both systems off and car runs way smoother than it did. its i guess its ok not to have egr or aiv it sure made a big difference in how smooth my engine idles

Yeah thats the way mine was. I just used the plug for both the AIV and EGR(jdm motor). But the header had the fittings for both and just came with the plugs.

AIV is an airway that was used to let fresh air into the exhaust stream for better emissions. Try searching and I am sure you will find more.
