What is the average miles per tank for a 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R? Until I find a fix for my cluster, I'll have to resort to filling up at the gas station, topping off, and then resetting the trip odometer to 0 and then refilling at a certain number of miles.

My question is, what is the danger zone or number of miles for the trip meter when I should start filling up? The car ran good when I first bought it and passed smog. It's all stock except for a cone filter. I drove the se-r pretty hard this week so my mpg must have been low. But once I fill up, I plan to drive normally and maximum 70 mph on the freeway.

If I drive 40% freeway and 60% city, with normal shifting at 3000 rpm with an occasional lead foot (sometimes only) for passing traffic, how many miles should I go before the next fill up.

 PLEASE help as i'm in an electronic predicament at the moment with my cluster

X2. 250 miles to the tank sounds about right, but you might want to fill it up every 200 miles to be safe.

thanks for the replies. the guage cluster is working now since the 10A fuse for the meter was bad. I will try from top off to near empty and report my mileage for confirmation next time.

I would fill up every 200 miles.

I used to get 300 out of a tank without gas light driving 85 percent highway. Now I only get about 225. But I only fill up once every 2 weeks too.

I get around 290-300 when I drive highway. And around 240-265 in the city/highway. Only seen my gas light on twice when it went below the E line

i drove from corvallis, or to Redding, CA on 1 tank. I could have probably gone another 30 miles or so. google the distance.

edit: i did it for you:

i have a b14, but that shouldnt matter much.

Just remember around 10gal is a good and low tank.

Drive her for 200+ miles, fill it up to full and you can gauge how much you have left. I think the most I have ever put in is 10.5 gal, and that is with the light on for a good bit.

i only get 240 per tank of gas and that's pushing it, it was worse before i fixed a lot of stuff like EGR, O2 sensor, reground my MAF, new spark plugs and wires, cap, rotor, air filter, adjust TPS, Timing And Synthetic oil. the car has 250k miles though.
