I am not sure if I am dumb or what , but I have a T25 with an internal waqstegate(from what I can see - a little flap on the exhaust side) and I cant figure out how the h*ll to hook it up. What do I do to buy and use an aftermarket wastegate? Do I even need an aftermarket if I am going to run 12psi? I think the spring in the OEM is a 5.5psi. What am I not seeing hereż?

from my understanding, external wastegates are more reliable...but what do I know, im just assuming things, but I look at it this way, if it already has an internal wastegate, why spend money on an external....just my .02 cents
also to hook it up just use a vacuum hose routed from any pressurized point after the turbine, to the little thing at the wastgate, hopefully you should know what im talking about, if not sorry for not helping, the stock wastegate is set at 7 psi not 5.5 psi, (or atleast im pretty sure) but anyway if you want to run more than 7 psi then you hook up a boost controller either maual or electronic. well I hope that this helps again just my $.02
Later and goodluck
Right now im installing mine, just waiting for my ECU from JWT and some injectors...

I know what you are talking about. I don't really know if my wastegate is that high in PSI. The T25 is not from another Nissan. It was a low mile junk yard part, prob. from a Dodge or something like it. What do I do to use another wastegate if there is an internal one there already. I might be looking at the wrong thing but I do enjoy the input. Thanx

The wastegate opening pressure is nullified with a boost controller. The sky is the limit...and your wallet. Or are you saying that you don't have the actuator and such for the wastegate?

what part is the actuator? I am not up to date on the turbo talk. What I have is a flap in the exhaust part of the turbo that hooks to a spring divice or what I thought to be the wastegate. It hase a pressure line flinge off of it.

well if you want to boost more than 5.5 psi then just dont hook it up and that will run you at the T25's maxx potential this is although not recommended because you may over boost and ...boom,
the actuator is the little bar thats hooked up to the wstegate, and flap in the exhaust side.
again I hope this is useful...
oh yeah you can get a boost controller ghetto mod, from lowes or home depot for about 45 bucks, or atleast thats how much mine was...ill try to find the reciept.

No offense, sir, but you have no business attempting to install a turbo yet. ;) Try this:
Howstuffworks.com: Turbochargers (http://www.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm)
There's more information linked from there. If you can't identify the wastegate actuator assembly, you have much more to read and learn.

Oh but I know what everything does and how it works but I am not familiar with a few part's names. I learned from an older mechanic but he never really told me what things were just what they looked like and how they worked. I have rebuilt 2 engines and trust me, a turbo install sound very simple and mapped out. Well that is thanks to the people on SR20DE forums. Thanx for the tips guys. It seems the seller of this turbo just told me a few things wrong, like the positioning of the wastegate.
