: Need an SR-specialist in ATL area
SR20DEg20girl 03-11-2009, 04:19 PM I'm looking for an SR-specialist (FWD) in or around Norcross...
...Long story short:
Car last ran in February '08 (1993 Infiniti G20 with a built 2.1L DET). Had some new lifters put in, but wound up with a stripped cam cap bolt hole. Several months later a helicoil got put in and the car got put back together but wouldn't start b/c the battery was super dead. Got busy, car sat. Eventually got the battery charged up again, cat won't start. Has fuel, has spark, won't start.
Like I said, that's the short version of a long story. At this point I am absolutely sick of guesswork and having the car be just a paperweight. I'm looking for someone who can get this piece fixed and running (hopefully by SERCA) and I am not willing to hand her over to just anyone (that's how this whole debacle happened in the first place).
If you can recommend someone who is familiar with FWD SRs I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks guys... I'm counting on y'all. :(

NoWay 03-12-2009, 06:53 PM Hey. you stated the car sat for awhile. It's possible your compression rings are dry, therefore no compression. try removing your spark plugs and spraying some wd-4o into the cylinders. I've run into this on a few cars.
hope that helps!
NX2KTPR 03-13-2009, 12:13 AM I would try Balanced Performance in Sugar Hill (North Gwinnett, just a bit off of P'tree Industrial.
SR20DEg20girl 03-13-2009, 09:45 AM Will do, thanks!
Also, thank you to everyone who has PMed me with recommendations - I really appreciate it! :)
SR20DEg20girl 03-15-2009, 07:10 PM Good news everyone! She's running again!! HUGE thanks to Sammy at Tiger Racing (Norcross, GA) who made a house-call and figured out it was the exhaust cam timing that was the issue. She's all fixed and put back together and I just felt boost for the first time in 13+ months. I'm SO glad! SERCA here we come!! THANK YOU SAMMY!!!! :D
MR-4Door-SR20DET 03-15-2009, 08:06 PM Congrats :)
mrstaff00 04-03-2009, 06:43 AM I like it when the story ends like that. I bet that car is pretty fast, being 2.1L DET, with disco on it. Tell us some numbers on it, and i'd like to see picks of the engine bay.
MR-4Door-SR20DET 04-03-2009, 09:37 AM SR20DEg20girl - Were you at the convention?
SR20DEg20girl 04-03-2009, 09:55 AM SR20DEg20girl - Were you at the convention?I sure was! I was a little worried about the drive since it was pretty much my first time taking the car out of my neighborhood in 13+ months but she made it without a single incident and even got her first bath in ~2.5 years. Unfortunately I didn't get in until about mid-day on Saturday and then left around 4pm after the picnic on Sunday, so I missed the track day :(

Tell us some numbers on it, and i'd like to see picks of the engine bay.You know I've never actually dynoed it yet, because of the "mystery ticking" I've been trying to figure out since I had the thing built. Maybe I'll get around to it this summer, but no promises. It IS a blast to drive, I'll tell you that ;) Also got 35+mpg cruising on the way out to Savannah. Pictures are at http://www.iheartboost.com/ build specs & pictures are on the "G20" page.
MR-4Door-SR20DET 04-03-2009, 10:25 AM I remember you, you spoke to me a couple of times.
SR20DEg20girl 04-03-2009, 10:47 AM Well then I'll have to give you my customary "I'm from New York and I apologize if I did/said anything rude/offensive/bitchy/etc." speech. Oh wait, I just did ;)
det-ser92 04-03-2009, 04:48 PM What about our dyno day in north GA, in may? supposedly anyway.... that'd be the time to dyno it..
SR20DEg20girl 04-03-2009, 05:06 PM How far north are we talking? Some of the local boys from G20.net set up dyno days now and again but those bastards always have it at 8am on a Saturday or some other ungodly time when my lazy ass is busy sleeping...
eric96ser 04-03-2009, 05:14 PM Calhoun.
SR20DEg20girl 04-03-2009, 05:16 PM Google says Calhoun is ~80 miles from me... which is a damn long way to drive for some dyno time. If you guys ever do anything in/around ATL or Norcross you can count me in :)
eric96ser 04-03-2009, 05:21 PM I drive from Nashville which is 170miles away.

^You were cool. I don't think you knew who I was though lol. I was the black guy with the dreads.
