: what radiator should i get?
sentra532 08-29-2002, 05:29 PM My radiator is leaking somewhere...I can smell the coolant leaking... Anyone have suggestions on where I can get a good radiator and how much I should plan on spending? I guess I want a better-than-stock radiator but Im not gonna spend like $500 or anything....especially since Im gonna buy some fans as well...anyone got any suggestions on what kind of fans to buy? Im probably gonna go with the flexalites from Summit... but I still need that radiator. TIA
Katana200sx 08-29-2002, 05:44 PM check out www.importrads.com . they have a koyo direct replacement radiator that is thicker. koyo also makes an all aluminum rad. but it is around $330 i think. hope this helps
Slartibartfast 08-29-2002, 07:01 PM The NISMO (GTi-R) radiator is about $275 and drops-in. It's not needed on a street car but is a real asset for track days.
sentra532 08-29-2002, 07:37 PM Cool...where can I get me one... also this is *without* the fans rite...
rednismo6 08-30-2002, 12:12 AM you csn get the nissan motorsports raidator, from courtesy nissan in texas, it's around $400. they say it's 29% cooler than stock, but it's only for an manuel car. there web page is courtesyparts.com. hope you get your problem taken care of. adam
Probedude 08-30-2002, 01:08 AM The price of the Nismo unit from Mossy Nissan in San Diego is under $300 so if you really do need a radiator, get it from them. Great customer service too.
But by all means find out where it is leaking from . It may not be the radiator.
sentra532 08-30-2002, 03:05 AM Welll...Im kinda looking for an excuse to get a better radiator anyways hehe... I see like dried coolant deposit crap on my radiator and I smell coolant all the time...so I assumed its leaking..not a bad leak ***. But yea I'll check out Mossy Nissan's prices on nismo radiators...
scmser 08-30-2002, 06:01 PM Get an NX2000 radiator. It's thicker, drops right in, inexpensive, and is all you'll ever need. Buy a 300zx TT radiator cap from Nissan to go with it. 1.2 bar and about $10. I have it in my Classic, works great. Add a bottle of WaterWetter also.
Low612 08-31-2002, 02:17 PM or get a modine all metal radiator which is twice as thick as any of the mentioned radiators. I have had the Nissan Motorsports radiator and its the same size as stock. Its expensive, more effecient but still had over heating probs . I decided to try a modine all metal radiator which brought my temps noticably cooler than the Nissan motorsports rad. on top of that the modine all metal was 200 bucks. I have picks on the forum you will have to do a search. Its literally twice as thick as Nissan Motorsports rad ,which is good. But cooler temps with more surface area on the modine and 150 bucks less i was happy.
This is just what i experience on my turbo car.

sentra532 09-03-2002, 12:29 AM Do you know where I can get the Modine for that price?
Low612 09-04-2002, 12:05 AM yes i can get them through my distibutor. I have gotten about 6 of these for various se-r peeps. PM me if you want one.
se-riusb14 09-04-2002, 05:17 AM Does the Modine drop right in w/no modifications? Do I have to remove anything, a/c perhaps, etc..?

It is a direct fit . No modifications necessary. It is thicker than the Motorsports radiator and Nx2000 one.
Low612 09-04-2002, 01:49 PM The only things that need to be removed are things that are in the way of installation or removal. The radiator has all the same mounting and fan mount points so its perfect.
brian 09-04-2002, 02:39 PM acutally the radiator is $283 plus shipping through courtesy :)
Low612 09-04-2002, 02:53 PM Thats a cool price. I sold my motorsports radiator because i wasnt happy with its cooling. I then opted for the modine since it cooled better and was 200.00 plus twice as thick atleast.
sentra532 09-04-2002, 03:19 PM Hey Larry, does the Modine have a built-in oil cooler? I was looking at the specs on napa online for the modine and it showed some fittings for an oil cooler...??
Low612 09-05-2002, 02:00 AM Those fittings must be for the automatic tranny. I have a manual tranny.
Sirnixalot 09-10-2002, 07:54 PM if the GTi-R rad is a drop in for the SE-R, 200sx then the modine one should drop inot a GTi-R right? I hope so cause i got too happy with my socket wrech when i was taking off my turbo and put a hole in my rad.....i suck i know

Im not familiar with the gti-rad. But if it drops in a se-r, considering all things equal i would say it would but have no experience in doing it. I know the modine is twice as thick as a se-r radiator and there are no fitment issues in a se-r .
