putting this out there because i may have blown the head gasket on my 94 xe-r. the car is currently running, but sounds like a wrx and has a loss of power. water and oil are still clean as a whistle. the motor/5 spd trans are out of a 93 nx2000 with 132k miles (body has 128k). Along with the swap i added a 2.25 header, egr delete kit, catless 2in exhaust, and shorty intake/cone filter. The body of the car is in pretty good shape. There is some rust on the drivers side door sill, which is a usual b13 sentra rust area (easy fix, and not seen with the door closed) there is one dent on the rear drivers quarter that has been pushed out mostly, and another dent behind the pass side door. The tires are in good shape, they are 13 inch mounted on black steel wheels with chrome trim rings. the interior of the car is in great shape, no tears, very little wear.

Cons: possible blown head gasket (still runs) speedometer needs to be wired in correctly (with service manual) i will included a nx2000 cluster with tach. the body could use a little work as stated above, but it gives off a good appearance. Something broke loose inside the exhaust resonator which makes some noise while accelerating (i dropped it by accident while bolting it up). no a/c. Engine bay could use some touching up.
This is a great sleeper and commuter car, the only body mod was the addition of a se-r center taillight panel. before it started having problems, the car was running awesome, felt like a mid 14 sec car! it is located in Walden zip 12586. I am asking $500 which is firm. **add 200 and i`ll include a nice nx2k radiator, nx2000 brakes (front and rear), nx2000 sway bars, and se-r wheels+centers (need paint, 2 tires)

Are you sure an injector or something didnt go out? My motor sounded exactly like a wrx with exhaust, was misfiring and had a big loss of power when my injector failed

sounds similar to when i had an injector go out on my nx2k. worth looking into.

swapping the injectors fixed the problem, no more misfiring, or loss of power.

Just a heads up, the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator is not attached in the picture.

thanks for the replies guys! i`m definatly going to try swapping injectors. i just did a compression test and all 4 were 180-200 psi so the head gasket can probably be ruled out.

dawgbizkitz, thanks for the heads up. i was actually in the process of rerouting the vac lines for the egr delete while that pic was taken.

NP, I have some redtop oem injectors for an NX at my house. They're just sitting there. Swapped them out about 3 weeks ago. Let me know if you need them. I'd let them go pretty cheap considering I'll never need them.

i pulled all the plugs/wires and let them sit on the VC while my sister cranked it, all of them seemed to have a good spark. i`m really leaning towards it being a injector, can`t wait to see.


Srpowa, that may be a possibility. if it runs good after this i may hold onto it for a little longer. i really enjoy this car, but i have been debating getting into a newer altima v6:D

John, I think I might have a couple injectors laying around from previous swaps. I'll look in the morning and see if I can come up with some. I'm going to be in Middletown tomorrow at East Coast Speed picking up some parts so if you can hitch a ride, maybe we can meet up and you can give them a shot. I am diggin the sleeper status.:D

the car is running like a champ again! found a stock injector laying on the ground in my backyard (from my previous sr20), popped it in the #3 spot and it fired right up. i`m going to hold onto this thing for a bit longer i think.

grats man, and thats odd mine was the #3 spot too, is there some kind of issue with that? is it a common problem?
