to put it in yourself is much beter takes about 10 minutes.

remove the oil filter unbolt the 2 10 mm's and viola it comes out

but i doubt its the tensioner thats making noise check first for slack in your chain if you have high mileage. or it could be th upper guide they arent really needed as evident in ka's and sr's

i heard that if u wanted to replace the timing chain tensioner, that you would have to replace the timing chain as well. is this true?

no the tensioner on our car is held on by two bolts, all you have to do to replace it is take out the oil filter and then remove the two bolts and put the new one in.

na man, some of the prices there are outdated i guess, because i remember the same thing, i paid like 60 for my tensioner and gasket, and your best off ordering it from courtesy becuae the local stealership will probably be even more than that like 80 even.. but its worth a shot..

i've heard about that if you're a member of the texas se-r mailing list, that u get 15-25% off of parts from Courtesy nissan. How would i go about getting this discount? Do i have to call a certain number and ask for a certain person? Anyone know?

sorry about that, i meant 25% off of my local nissan dealership, they are tied in with the dealership he currently works for. I dont know about getting a discount from courtesy, they messed up my order, then charged me a 2nd time to ship the right parts... and never hooked me up with anything!

A word of warning. Be very careful about the torque you apply to the studs holding the timing chain tensioner to the block. It's only supposed to be ~10 ft-lbs and they mean it. Don't ask me how I know.

IIRC, TCT was ~$60 from Courtesy.

Current list on the tensioner is $66.53

I use http://www.nissanparts.cc/ to check current prices, but I have never ordered from them.

Call Greg Vogel from Mossy Nissan, he's a 'Friend of the List' and will give you 25% off list. You'll also save on tax which is nice. Since you will have to pay shipping, might as well order a few oil filters, some tune up parts and whatever else you need
