OK. So on my 94 se-r I've been eperiencing some strange problems. Please let me know if anything like this has happened to you and what you would recommend.

Sometimes my car runs completely normal

Sometimes my car runs bad, hesitating all the way up to 3200 rpms when it all-of-a-sudden runs completely fine until it drops below the 3200 rpm mark again.

My car always runs bad when its cold.

My car has the most strange throttle response. It will be fine sometimes, other times when I lightly depress or release the pedal I will have a midly violent and delayed reaction from the car.

What is happening here? I did the Wayne Cox HP trick (aligning the distributor and rotor better) and that seemed to fix things for a couple of hours. Unfortunately it went back to its old ways shortly there after. Any suggestions? Thanks

If, I was you I would look into setting the timing with a timing light to 17 degrees, then see how it runs and then I would also reground the maf sensor if you havent allready... And if its been a while since doing a tune up I would think about doing one as well.

Regrounded the MAF already and the tune up was done about a year ago. I do have Magnecor wires which may be causing something as one of them disconnected from the boot and possibly severed a connection... although all 4 pistons are still firing.

I have a JWT ecu that has it set to 15 degrees. I was told that JWT ecus don't like more than 15 degrees on 'em.

I wonder if any of this could have to do with 1. the timing chain tensioner 2. a dirty Throttle Body 3. the idle control valve (can't remember its technical abbreviation).

Thanks for the input.

I should say in regards to the ignition wire problem, that my car was exhibiting these problems long before the wire pulled out of the boot. the car also seemed to run fine for awhile after doing the "Wayne Cox HP trick". It was immediately after I did that that I pulled my wires to inspect them which led to the incident.

THe JWT ECUs will do good at 17 but you should be ok at 15. You might want to check the IACV though.

Is that the idle control valve I was speaking of earlier? I have a spare used one, but I don't want to replace one problem part with a possible second problem part.

Is there anyway to fix/clean/repair an old one? Any tips for installing a new one? I think my used spare one came off of a 91 sr20

Thanks. This is sounding a bit like my problem. I hope this works.

I replaced a solenoid that appeared to bad. I also cleaned the thing. The problem is still there. What about the valve that helps warm up your car when its cold. Any tips on that? I can't afford to spend all the time on it that was recommended by the guy on Se-r.net. Too much freezer time.

Besides that, I am thinking about cleaning my TB, having the injectors cleaned (although fuel pressure has been tested as good), and having my JWT ecu examined. I'm not sure what to do past that. My car does run rich at idle as well... so bad in fact that I can't pass an emissions test. Frustrating and strange.
