for the longest time, ive gone into spurts where i only look for specific cars. first, it was dsm's. that was a big mistake where i bought a 1990 plymouth laser fwd turbo 5speed. built that up a little and went out street racing and i blew the motor up due to a BIG boost spike. then i got a 1991 eclipse gsx 5speed. only had that 1 month and the motor threw a bearing. i took that as a sign and moved on to a new brand. i bought a 91 se-r that i boosted with an avenir motor and it was a fun car but i had money issues so i had to sell it. saved up a little a bought a 98 se-r that i put a little bit of money in a realized how much of a waste of time it was to put money in. i know a couple of guys around my way that did some srt4 swaps on a first gen neon a it was a reliable car that was in the 12's with half the money of my se-r. so thats the route ive taken this time. i know there not the greatest pics, but i will add more when its clean and nice out. im also getting it dynoed, so i will post a video of that too.

I'm a big 1g neon fan. I've had like 4. Parts for them are cheaper than any other car out there. It's ridiculous.

You will easily get 12's. Some choice mods and you got 11's no problem. Shit stock SRT4's running only a 100 shot on slicks hit 11's. Nice project. Only thing I don't like is that its red. That's just me.

i always wonderd about a swap like that.. how difficult was it? my mom had a 4dr 1g and i lowerd it.. i blew the tranny with neutral drops all the time.. it was a pita to work on with the intake mani in the front

I dislike neons and especially the srt4 pieces of crap but to each his own.

also another idea.. ive seen a video of a saturn ( like the one behind the hotdog) with a built sr20VE in it.. both cars would be a nice sleeper project..

How do the trannies hold up to the power?

Hes likely using the stock SRT4 transmission and they hold up decent. Better than b13 trannys.

its the stock sohc tranny with an obx lsd. they are basiclly the same tranny other than the gearing. the srt has 3.50, the sohc has 3.55 and the dohc has 3.94

the build is about on average, 3000 to 3500, but thats running and driving. if u dont already have the car, add the price of the car. mine was 3700 including car. thats with perrin piping, exhuast, agp wastegate and all the other odds and ends.
