A friend decided to donate his car for a build we've been trying to work on. This will be a SR20VE head (VVL) to a SR20DET block. For those that dont know much about the VVL head, its pretty much a Honda VTEC setup, so VVL head + boost ='s much power and less head breakage of parts. The VVL head flows much better and has stronger components than of the regular SR20DET head. This is the same head we run on our drag Silvia S15 better known as "The Green Machine"

Here are pics of it starting to pull the motor apart.

Yes a DE's pistons don't have enough valve clearance for the 12mm of lift on the VE's high lobes

Pics and updates will be on hold for a few days till the VE motor gets here. In the mean time, we are making some tweaks to parts that will interchange for the swap.

i dont think the 12mm is the problem.....

but rather the stupid amounts of overlap that the n1's have

how did u guys go about this

i had the standard gear which drives of the crank shaft machined down so i can slide on the standard sr20det gear onto the crank
other wise the pully kept hitting the oil pump housing
