: SAFC vs CalumRT

Just a quick question, I'm getting a CalumRT, and I've been told I'd have to use a Wideband O2 sensor. Now, a friend of mine mentioned using an SAFC as well.

Do I need the latter as well, or is CalumSult/TunerProRT able to edit A/F ratios as well?

Your friend is not well informed... an safc is useless. The point of the board is to allow u to tune hte car, why would you need an safc to screw everything up?

the way an safc works is flawed by design. It tells the ecu there is low load to decrease the pulsewidth of the injectors... they didnt take into account that reading from a lower load block on the map it'd jack the timing through the sky.

hellloooooo melted stuff.

Kay. Noted. So I don't need to combine a wideband o2 sensor with an SAFC.

I DO need a wideband anyway, right? Cause then the second part of my question isn't answered yet; Can I edit/modify the A/F ratios with just a wideband and the CalumRT?

BTW, my car originally came without EGR and O2 sensor (gonna use that ECU) and the guy whom I bought the VE from never used an O2 sensor either. So it's not like I'm gonna use the WB as a replacement sensor.

When you say your car didn't come with O2 or EGR, was it that way from the factory? Can you open the lid of the ECU your going to use and take a good hi-res picture?

Yes, it came like that from factory. Why, won;t a RT work then? :(

As far as opening it up, it's actually a similar ECU that I'm going to use, the same numbers etc, also one from an NX with no O2, but I'm still waiting for it to arrive :P. I'll take a pic when I can though!
