I've removed my AIV a while ago, my car is running rich, I'm thinking this might have something to do with it. When I take the little sensor off that goes to the AIV, is there anything I can do to make the car not run rich like put a resistor in there?(effectivly doing what JWT does on the computers??) I need some assistance on this. Please help me out guys.

I didnt know there was any kind of electrical sensor connected to the AIV? It was my understanding that the AIV add's air to the exhaust to help the CAT out and that there was some reed valve or something that controlled it. Or maybe im completly wronge, I dont know.

Trace the vacume line that goes to the AIV(on the front by the oil seperator). The vacume line goes to a sensor that is connected to the BPT valve bracket. Maybe I'm off, but what is that sensor?

There is no sensor, its a solenoid. One way around the problem is to have JWT reprogram your ECU for a post '93 car. I did that when I got my S3 program.

I know about the JWT AIV removal, I was just wondering if there was a cheaper way to do something for it, my car is running rich and its pissing me off. I don't have $600 to spend right now, and Ican't afford the downtime with sending my ECU off, this is my daily driver.

I know what you mean. Sorry but I don't have any other info for ya. I purchased a used ECU for $60 from BMS Auto and sent that off to JWT as a core. That way I kept mine, which had S3 program in it.

My car is missing the AIV, wasn't replaced after the accident. I have no problems with it running rich. Gas mileage is solid at 27-30 mpg,and the plugs are perfect. Could your problem be something else?
