hello all, im new to this website so please inform me of any mistakes ive made. okay, to start off , ive recently removed the heater and ac parts on my car. After removing the hvac system, the temp guage stopped working. The car starts up and runs fine, but after the motor warms up, the car respondes late, wants to die at idle, and just runs like crap. I was wondering if i removed something that i wasnt supposed to? or if the coolant temp sensor just when out? i have no idea whats wrong, please help.

ps. this is a 1990 240sx fast back, sr20det redtop.

I'm not sure if your engine is the same, but my engine has two sensors. One is a single wire sensor that provides signal to the water temp gauge on the dash. The second is a two wire sensor that is the CTS that the ECU uses.

Did you properly loop the system and ensure that there is no air in the system.

i would say it's something else, because the gauge not working probably means you did disconnect the single wire but all that is, is a signal to the gauge on the dash, doesn't affect the drivability of the car, but re-trace your steps, change your temp sensor or could be something random just happened to the car.

so it has nothing to do with the sensor that goes to the ecu? all this happened when i removed the hvac system, and im sure i did all this properly. What other reasons could the car run like crap when its warmed up? it runs fine when its cold
