Was stopped at a light and took off and the speedo stopped working. Several minutes after that the cel came on. Don't think it was related, its come on from time to time for no obvious reason. Thought of replacing the pinion on the tranny 1st. Had a spare tranny and went to take it off and it didn't want to come off. A piece broke off [freakin cheap pot metal!!] while I was using a scraper.
My question is A: How the hell do they come off??
B: any other ideas what maybe causing the no speedo problem?
Maybe something in the cluster, but I think some other problems would happen at the same time if it was...

when my speedo stop working I change the cluster and it worked again.

I got a speed sensor and cable if you want to buy it. Brand new OEM from gregv

If it just died like that I'd say try a new cluster before replacing the gear in the tranny.
