ok i just had my motor rebuilt, my mods are cp pistons, darton sleeves, cosworth head gasket, bc valve train, titek adjustable cam gears bc stage 3 272, greddy intake manifold, tomie big bore throttle body, emanage ultimate for tuning. my problem is the shop where my car is at can't figure out the problem. it starts and is smoking white constantly my wideband reads 10-11 air fuel ratio. they have to fix my air fuel ratio fast before it washes my piston rings out again.they would pull fuel out on the emanage to about 14-1 but it goes back to the 10-11 on the guage. the emange connectos are connected fully and i don't have a clue. anybody have any ideas what the problem could be.

is it running off a base map right now? or is it already tuned? have you let the o2 warm up? where is the wideband at on your exhaust (downpipe, header, close to cat? do you have any exhaust restrictions?

it has a half base tune half tune just to get it to run right my o2 is on the downpipe with no restictions. i don't think they let it run to long because this is the 2nd time they put the motor back in because the first time it ran too long rich and washed my piston rings out

could they possibly use an exhaust sniffer, or are they positive its rich? what size injectors are on there? Is it rich through the whole rpm band? what cfm is the new throttle body?

positive its rich. don't wanna drive until they stabilize the air fuel at idle. and im sorry what does cfm mean. its a tomie big bore throttle body 70mm

white smoke sucks. usually burning coolant... sure its not doing that? good compression on all cylinders? what bore / stroke?
cfm= Cubic Feet / Min. has no relavance... was just curious. What size injectors? Is this on a dyno, or street tuning?

that white smoke has got me thinking coolant leak into the cylinder... all a o2 sensor does is sense the presence of oxygen. If oxygen is not there, it will indicate a rich condition. Usually if running rich because of too much fuel, it will black smoke; ESPECIALLY at that ratio

bore to 87mm stock stroke and a little dyno tune. compression is good. 740cc injectors i was maybe think idle air control valve do you know what the adjustment should be

update.. went by the shop and the wideband is reading mid 14's for air fuel ratio with rough idle and car doesn't respond when the gas is pressed untill a couple pumps. and ideas?

have you tried bringin it up off of idle?
could be base timing; valve timing; IACV;

my 1.6 car did that for the longest. had injectors leaking AND a bad IACV

yeah what is the setting for the iacv all in or couple turns out?

Is it White "smoke" or greyish blusih smoke?
The only thing that "smokes" white is water
Fuel smokes pretty dark black.

compression test, coolant leak down test;

no its white. also they said the motor is eating up oil, and when sitting still adjusting air fuel ratios for a while the car started running hot, any ideas on that?

You are burning coolant. It is getting into your combustion chamber, and putting white smoke out of your exhasut. whether or not its the head work, head gasket, liners, throttle body, block, etc; i dont know.

Did this shop build the engine? Do they not want to tell you that they messed up, so they wouldn't have to tear the engine down? Sounds to me like they are trying to tune it, inspite of the fact that it has a MAJOR problem, and send it out the door. Hoping that you will leave, get on it, and void whatever warantee they may offer; if any.

Sorry man, i can't do much online, but with my experience, I hope I at least am helping you out. With the facts you gave me; white smoke, rich mixture, over heating; I'd say you are burning coolant. This engine is freshly built? should have zero leaks. no over heat. no noise. no weird idle.

let me know what this shop is telling you. What shop is it? where? they have a web page?

What car is this engine in?

240sx. www.tcsauto.com. the owner explained that it is running rich and smoking white because the fuel not letting the piston rings set correctly but he is supposed to talk with greddy on monday to see what else they can figure out as far as tuning and some sensors.

sweet. keep me updated. I have rarely heard of fuel causing white smoke, but I don't know everything... yet. lol I'm surprised ***** else has jumped in here and offered some advice. Where them experts at?
