Hey guys!
I tested the SR20VE two days ago. I installed a new oil pressure gauge, near to the oi filter. Engine start. When the engine was cold the pressure was 7bar. It was falling a little under 1 bar while the engine was becoming warm. Than I rised the rpm. At ~4000 the pressure was around 7bar. And while a short period of a litle over 6000rpm, the needle was leaving the scale. It means something around 10bar. Than there was no pressure shown...
Is this high pressure normal? Was the gauge broken? (now it is, definitely)
Or what could be the problem?

Have a look on this (http://www.sr20-forum.com/vvl/7624-ve-oil-pressure-temperatures.html)
Oil pressure is related to rmps, temperature and oil viscosity.
Don't use cheap instruments especially mechanic ones.

sr20ve's have higher oil pressure than sr20de/t's, different oil pump... I don't think there could ever be too much....
I've never seen a digital oil pressure gauge that was used for measuring outside of the car, they're all mechanical.

Okay I use 10W40 and we have 15°C at the test day.

mechanical = liquid filled = no electronic pressure sender
10W40 is a bit high for your country and could certainly explain high pressure especially on cold oil
Use 5W or 0W up to 30. You don't get more than that. 5W30 for this season would be fine.

In my DE I was running 15W40. And the car will run only from now til october. Within this time the temterature outside wil rise to 20 - 30 °C.
What do you mean wiht "for this season"? What is your intervall of changing your oil?
What oil pressure gauge Do you use? And what is your max pressure at 6000 - 7000 rpm?

In my experience, the VE will idle when cold above 100 psi, and when warm will calm down to around 20 or so. When cruising I could be at 80psi, or maybe higher at high revs. The thing to be afraid of is blowing your oil filter off. If this doesn't happen, you should be fine. The recommendation to use a lighter oil is good too. It will also help with gas mileage to a small degree.

Agreed with Greg.
Do you ever get more than 35C if not stay with a SAE30 oil.
We could get up to 45C during summer that's why I'm using a SAE40 oil but I would like to try a SAE30 one.
Modern manufacturers policy for new engines is to use a thin oil. 0W20 many recommend.
Nissan spec for DE/VE is 7.5W30. They say use 15W30 only in very hot conditions.
You won't get bellow 0C this time of year so 5W30 is appropriate, even if it get bellow 0C. If it's really freezing outside then a 0W30.
It's good to have a thin oil for protecting the engine on cold crank phases.
My gauges are Defi. I change my oil every 5000Km. Race spec oils are not suitable for more than 3000Km. Using a good full synthetic you could go up to 8000km intervals but I wouldn't go more.
I've tried 300V series on 0W-5W40 and Castrol Edge Sport 0W40. The castrol had 250ml missing on a recent check during end of it's life. The 300V was missing even more oil. I plan on using Motul 8100 (X-clean probably).
I get cold start-up 7bar and I can get 8bar up to 60C oil temperature with full throttle. Soon oil temp reaches 90C I get lower readings than others.

Hi! ;)
Okay! Thank you all!
I will do the following: The car will run for some days, for testing. And for "cleaning": The old oil was black. And the new oil (10W40) will take the remainings, I hope. Within this time I will Install a new oil presure gauge with 10bar limit. Than in some weeks I will change the oil filter to a K&N and use 5W40, because the car will run in summer. And I don't want to be surprised if I run high rpm to the beach wile having 35°C. Finaly I will install a oil cooler.

Typically on my setup running 10w30 in Florida I have anywhere from 75-100 if the temperature is below 50 (rarely). WHen the temperature is warm outside and engine still cold the psi is about 70 at idle and will reach 100psi at 3500rpm until its warm.
