Well, they are giving the Sylvia the axe, but the SR series isnt dying yet.

SR16VE
SR20VE
SR20VET

Things change, c'est la vie.

so what cars did they come in adam? i know they came in primeras but my only concern is that if i wanted to someday do a DET swap i probably wouldn't be able to find a decent one with low miles, i guess that s one of the good things about having a nissan *** , not everyone and their brother has one............see honda ricers are good for sumpthin.........

so what cars did they come in adam?

primeras and something else , not an expert here..haha

just think of how many primeras are out there though.. as long as there is a market for seeling det's over here there will be companies to find the engines to ship.

and im assuming that DET's came in only the silvias, which they had made only X amount of those, im wondering what type of breakthrough engine they will be putting in future silvias??????? i hope its not a v6 i kinda hate those, my whole thing is getting all kinds of hardcore power outta 4 banger, thats what made it interesting........

The Japanese engines come from clips mostly right? So after teh production there will be at least a two to three year lag period before the effects are felt. Eventually there will be allsorts of custom stuff available. Blocks, gear sets, I mean think of how much is available now.

I know the DET's we get here in Montreal, are from 1994 car's anyways, so we wont feel the affect soon thats for sure.

The DET's we get here for FWD cars are AWD Pulsar/Sunny GTi-R's, AWD Bluebird's SSS, and AWD Avenir's.

Teh Primera had an SR20DE, and now the SR20VE.

speaking of SR20VE engines, is it me or has anyone else noticed how the ft/lb of torque is reduced in those engines? SR20DE engines had almost same HP/TQ......I guess VTEC got that popular that nissan had to start making VVL engines.......now we nissan owners who might have a VVL engine is going to have to get hard revving action to get torque huh?

Actually, there is no reduction in torque. An SR20VE makes about 10lbs more torque than a stock SR20DE.

Neo-VVL just adds 40 hp, without playing with torque. Now whats the harm in that ? SR20DE's where already high reving engines, so just add to that Neo-VVL and you cna get more power too.

It still makes way more torque than a B16a or B18 or any Vtec engine.

i guess i got used to seeing SR20DE engines have HP/TQ around the same numbers, i see the new RSX has 200 HP but only 142 TQ just seems strange to look at it that way i dunno i wouldnt mind a SR16VE at least..........

lined up beside a type s at the track a few weeks ago, you couldnt tell they had 200 hp by his timeslip ill tell ya that.. theyre real slow off the line, but when the v-tec kicks in they start to pick up.. only thing is by that time, youre already two car lengths ahead of them
