THX scmser 09-02-2002, 09:20 PM You will have no power steering. If the belt flies off, then you may have problems. The P/S and water pump are together on the same belt. If you suddenly loose all power steering, pull over and shut your car off. Most P/S failures tend to have symptoms prior to all out failure. Whining noises, intermitten failures, etc. Why do you ask? Loe Lyf 09-02-2002, 11:21 PM The pulley might also seize if fluid is not recirculating through the pump. cengiran 09-03-2002, 05:55 PM the reason why i asked is because each time i turn the wheels , the car make a buzzing/whining...and when i turn the wheels while the car is at stop condotion, not only it makes a sound, but also dropped my rpm from idle (around 1000'ish) to 400's.... should i change my power steering?...should cost as much as replacing the water pump right? anyway..my car is 91 240 sx 151000miles... random thoughts 09-03-2002, 07:48 PM I make a power steering eliminator kit for the se-r's.
