I planning on replacing my pacesetter headers with HS. Also I would like to replace the exhaust studs. Should I go to the dealer or should I buy aftermarket????
I need vendors and part numbers.
I have not inquired either, I would like to get opinions from the forum before making a decision. :)

Why? It might cause you to break one into the head. If you decide to go forward just get some JB's penetrating lube and soak them when cold for a good while. Then use two of the nuts on the stud and jam them together. Then just unscrew the stud and replace with new oem pieces.

Since the header is already off the car.....is it a good idea to put all new studs because they're 10 years old? I've got 1 broken stud in the block.

If it aint broke, don't fix it!
As far as qinsac's question, buy a few to have on hand but no need to replace them unless they break.

Whoa!
I totally disagree Bruce. I always replace the exhaust studs and nuts (not washers though) whenever I remove the manifold/header. The intense heat makes the studs brittle. You are far more likely to break one torquing the nuts than you are removing the stud (if you're not ham-fisted).

What's the going price for one of these header studs? The dealer charged me $10.00 CDN for 1 header stud.Is that a fair price?

Hey George, I guess I'm an optimist. Didn't buy any for my Hotshot install. One did back out of the head but I just screwed it back in.
I look at the hard (and maybe brittle) steel, then I look at the soft(er) aluminum head. I'd rather let that sleeping dog lie.
Toe-may-toe, toe-***-toe. Viva la differénce
edit: What the heck??? I typed "m a h" and it was replace with asterisks.

So Geo,
What is your recommended method for removing the studs?
You go for the double jammed nuts and just unscrew, or is there a better way.
