: Is there a good place in NC (or around) for a swap?
SM00TH976 09-03-2002, 04:15 PM there are s13's all over the place around here and i think i'm gonna get one. i have been reading up on the swap and i really don't think that I could do a proper job of it. has anyone in NC, or SC, or maybe even georgia had an engine swap done that they were happy with? even if you weren't happy with your swap i'd still really like to hear about it. i am VERY picky about my cars. everything would really need to be done right.
Its311Pete 09-03-2002, 09:21 PM What part of NC do you live in?
I guess you are wanting to swap a SR20DET in right?
SM00TH976 09-03-2002, 09:58 PM well i am living in greenville right now and during the summer i live in wilmington. i was looking around on the internet and unstable-hybrids is in georgia, which is like 8 hours away. but they say they've been doing SR20DET swaps for like 10 years, which is what's the most important for me. i only wanna go through this engine swap thing once. then i want the engine to exist with the chassis like it was put there at the factory. the only good thing about them being 8 hours away is that glorious 8 psi drive home. yeah, turbo geek. :D
SM00TH976 09-03-2002, 10:08 PM oh wait, i'm sorry. 7psi. anything over that and they say it's "engine abuse." whatever.
99.se.ltd 09-03-2002, 10:54 PM not sure about places for swaps, but gville is 25 minutes from here. what are you driving in the mean-time?
SM00TH976 09-03-2002, 10:58 PM right now i have a 93 prelude Si. it's actually not that bad. no vtec though. just 2.3 liters of pure honda power. hehe. i was only supposed to have the car for like a year so i haven't done anything to it. 155k and this this is still runnin' STRONG. so it has served it's purpose. i just wanted a car that wouldn't die on me!
MaddMatt 09-03-2002, 11:12 PM Smooth: In Raleigh check out Happy Japs and Krause&England. Both are run by SCCA racers. I have no first hand experience with Happy Japs work, but Krause&England's work is second to none. They work on Ferraris, Alfas, and stuff NO one wants to touch. Be prepared to spend a small fortune at K&E, but I can almost garuntee it'll be as good as possible.
GameDay 09-03-2002, 11:38 PM Check out jason garrett young. He has been doing swaps and provides det engines as well. He is a great guy and highly recommended on this site. He's located somewhere in Virginia, just north of you. :)
Good Luck!

Insane PSI 09-04-2002, 04:18 PM http://www.jgycustoms.com
SM00TH976 09-04-2002, 05:39 PM thank you
Insane PSI 09-05-2002, 03:36 PM No problem, he's good. Started on mine friday night at 10pm, turned the key of the DET Saturday at 1am. ;)
SM00TH976 09-05-2002, 04:49 PM holy crap that's fast! suddenly this whole SR20DET thing is a lot less intimidating. now all i gotta do is find the right car. well that and get my insurance settlement.
TREYDEE 09-05-2002, 10:06 PM Sorry but If Smooth is in NY and JYG is in Virgina how is that

ITR_KILLR 09-05-2002, 10:49 PM Import Zone in Spartanburg, SC swapped my DET into my 200. If you are in Greenville, SC that is really close by. There # is 864-599-1999.
SM00TH976 09-06-2002, 10:52 AM NY? SC? you guys got it all wrong. i live in Greenville, NC. :D i think i've figured out who i'm gonna have do the swap though. JYG customs seems to be very highly regarded on the board, and i don't think they are too far away. they say he's a little weird, which is perfect. all us car guys are a little crazy. i mean hell, within the next few months i'll be spending twice as much for mods on a car than i actually paid for the car itself!
