: Turbocharging Euro 10.1 sr20de
highspeed 05-11-2009, 12:19 PM Also read at my last post.......I have updated it and I need your input!
I was wondering who has done it and with what. I was looking into the JGY t25 turbo kit for my euro 10:1 sr20de. I want to run wastegate pressure, around 7lbs should be fine for DD. I already make 152 whp with bolt ons but would like a good all around kit that will let me drive in the mountains without fear of traction issues, but still pull hard on the straights. I want this car to be an all purpose fwd SCCA DD car and be reliable. This is my first time thinking about turboing this motor. It pulls great and is quite reliable but there is still that temptation for alittle more. Has anyone done this and if so, what route did you go, power numbers, issues etc.?
I have a b13 se-r btw.
nnoriega 05-11-2009, 12:48 PM I would recomend to use the search button, it has been done with good numbers, 7 psi it's for a 10:1 CR engine. you'll have fun, for what I've read, those engine gives better rensponse..
Good luck..
LOUROK 05-11-2009, 12:58 PM go for it. Just don't go to high on boost. If the motor has a lot of miles just change your rod bearings.
highspeed 05-11-2009, 01:15 PM the good thing is that the PO has a book of receipts for the car that verify the mileage on the motor, its in good running order and the car has everything else needed to turbocharge it......except the turbo kit. This isn't my first turbo sr, just my first euro. I have searched some but I will continue my search to see what people have done and what numbers they are putting down, hell I might even do a build thread also. Thanks
dmp316 05-11-2009, 01:21 PM with a stock DET kit at stock boost...7psi you should be fine. But do not push the motor or turbo passed that
highspeed 05-11-2009, 01:34 PM from what I have read, many people are putting good numbers down on the 10:1 motor with over 10lbs. So i know it can be done, I just want a stock looking set up at 7 lbs, shouldn't be too hard since some pple have 16lbs on their 10:1. My other option was putting sr16/sr20ve head on it and be done with it. But I am a boost junky and I like the feel, sound, and power.
I wonder what the compression would be on an 10:1 euro sr20de with sr16ve head? sr20ve head? anyone done this yet?
ashtonsnissannx 05-11-2009, 02:01 PM do it, ive done it a couple times, great response, just keep the boost 10psi or under and you will be in for a ride and the reliability will be great as well.
If you use a t28 you can go to 14-15lbs and have even more fun.
highspeed 05-11-2009, 07:56 PM Thanks, I'm sure 10lbs will break the tires loose easily, I think I will try to piece a kit together because it seems to be the cheaper route to take, and I can get parts that I want. Anyone have a stock setup they want to part with?
STRATTON 05-11-2009, 09:06 PM do it. its a great set up.
i had a 10:1 with a t25 and tmic s4's, 3inch dp, 3 inch exhaust, full ur pulleys and a jwt ecu for 10:1 and 370s @ 4bar.
at 14or15 psi i put down 240whp 230 tq. it was a very fast car for the set up and would roast the tires to begining of third on drag radials.
a belt popped off my water pump pulley and it over heated and got rod knock on the way home ( i didnt care to pull over lol).
id say go for it and throw some good boost at it just have a good tune and youll be good to go.
stratton.
daveracer 05-11-2009, 09:42 PM I did 263whp on a stock 10:1 engine, from valve cover to oil pan. This was on a GT28RS @ 10PSI.

Luckily I work less than 2 miles from a great sr20 shop here in ATL. I like to build my own things and go as far as I can by myself, then turn it over to the pros. Your setup is exactly what I was looking for. So I will be trying to go that route for sure
highspeed 06-04-2009, 03:54 PM ok I just bought a full BB setup with 370's. I was wondering how far the stock maf will get me? and my initial tuning solution will be on a safc and wideband. I will eventually go with a calum ecu and front mount with the t25. I think it should be quite fun once Im done. Where do you guys get the oil supply from, the oil sending unit? I have a greddy oil pressure gauge that hooks up to the back of the block so I will probably go there. I will just post all of my questions while I am at it.
1. I am running stock fuel pump, but I have a full BB fuel rail and fpr, what is that good for fuel pressure wise.? Right now I see 3.25 bars at full throttle on the de fpr.
2. Will a gtir I/C bolt up the the BB up pipe and throttle elbow? i found one cheap and I would rather be safe then sorry with a bigger I/C
3.Will a 255lph fuel pump over flow the sr20det BB fpr? That will be my next step until I get a adj fpr.
4. Im not trying to blow the doors off of an STI but I want to keep up with them(all my friends have sti's or evo's) in the mountains, which I know there are many variables, but I can keep up with them in the curves all day, just not on the straight aways
Thanks
I dynoed my car last week bone stock sr20de 10:1 block
317.7 whp at 14,7 psi

Sneakyowner 06-05-2009, 07:12 PM I made 230whp and 255tq with my t-25 maxed out boosting as much as it could. My dyno is on "the better" forum.
brennan 06-05-2009, 10:42 PM i'm running a stock t25 on 7psi on mine, it runs awesome. the trick is to left foot brake a lot when you're in the turns and boosting.
PwrdByUncleBens 06-08-2009, 01:57 AM I would stick to low boost, but really its all in the tuning. There are lots of high compression engines on boost, just how much time do you want to spend on the dyno?
T28turbos 06-08-2009, 04:32 PM I did 263whp on a stock 10:1 engine, from valve cover to oil pan. This was on a GT28RS @ 10PSI.
nice number!!! 1/4 mile time???
