Ok well I went today to go and see about getting my body kit put on. It's the FULL Stillen GTR Widebody (that's what they call it) with the new Stillen Wide mouth front bumper. I also needed to get a few little scratches taken out, and I wanted my trunk repainted, and my hood custom painted.

So I get to talking with the guy. (The shop manager.) And he's telling me how the kit needs to be completely stripped and reblocked, and primed. I know he wasn't BSing me because I could see where it needed it. So the more we talk the more I find out what needs to be done. And I honestly don't think that the guy was lying because it all made sense. So then the owner of the shop comes out. He and I begin talking and he tells me how he would go about doing things, the right way. Well we pretty much decided that in order for this to be a GOOD paintjob the entire car would need to be resprayed. I'm in Florida, and the car is silver metallic.

So the Manager starts to walk inside and says. "I'm going to write down a number and I guarentee that it's higher then what he (the owner) tells you." So the owner asks if I would mind helping with the job a little. By that he meant taking out some of the interior panels and whatnot. So I agree. By that time the manager comes back out and hands me the paper. $4500!! Now keep in mind this is a COMPLETE show quality paint job. Guarenteed for as long as I own the vehicle. That price would include all new seals around the windows, front and rear windows taken out so that the paint job would be perfect. All imperfections removed from the car.

So then the owner turns to me and tells me I'll do it for $3000. But you need to help me with those few things. He told me to do this the right way he's going to need the car for probably 2 weeks, maybe more. But he promises that it will be perfect, and show quality. Now I believe the guy because as he was talking to me, this rich guy was picking up his Porsche that they just repainted and installed a FULL Wide body kit on. And there was a Ferrari sitting in the bay. So what do you all think of the price?

Hey, where'd you get the kit from? I called Stealin and they told me they only make the front bumper now.

Sorry had a premature post. It happens a lot to guys my age.. LOL!

Anyhow you can still get the kit from Erebuni. Be ready to fork out a good amount of money though.

For that kind of money they better be talking about including inside the door jambs and engine bay, inside of trunk, basically the whole chassis. They should remove any and all rust, dings, dents, etc. If they do all that then it sounds like a decent price.

that's what I payed for my Ferrari red paint job removing all dings scratches and imperfections along with the Tsuru install.

No thanks, I know for the money I could get close to the installation of a DET, but I plan on buying a S13 in the future for boosting. I'm keeping my 200sx nice for shows, and daily driven reliability.

Tonez when you said black pearl, I was wondering if there was such thing as a black pearl. I was going to see about getting a brighter silver with a black pearl over it.

What did you pay for yours, Ryan? Also, who did it? My wife grew up in an area where you are from so I am curious if she might know the place that did the work. I ask only because your car looks soooo nice in that picture.

Thanks,

i got 3 quotes ranging from $500-$2000 just for my stillen lower lip, bumper skin, hood, grill and blending the front fenders. the hood has one small rock dent, otherwise it's just chips everywhere. my advice... get that $3k estimate in writing then shop around.

I second Ryan's post. Sounds like a good price though. Like Ric said though, get a few more quotes just to know how good a deal you're getting, if for no other reason. When I got estimates for the damage to my car I went to three of the best known places in town and the lowest bid was $846 and the highest was $1300.

Ric, I took you guys advice, and I'm glad I did!! I went to the guy who originally fixed my car when they had to cut it in half. Well he walked around the car a few times, looked at the kit, looked at me. It's probably going to be around $1000.! Hell yeah that's much better. I'm figuring by the time it's all said and done, tops $1200! So I'm taking him a deposit Friday. I'll keep you guys posted.

Hey Shumax. I got it done at Body Werks in Skokie. It is a very reputable place, and OMG, I saw some of the sweetest cars in there getting painted whenever I was there. I saw an Impreza WRX wagon getting a bright melon pearl coat, a 240 w/DET swap getting a nice grey/green chameleon job, and an S2000. The owner has an S2000 with supercharger and other things and his car has been featured in Super Street and a few other mags. It's all a bunch of crazy polish guys working there and they all know their shit!

Oh yeah, it cost me $2300 for the whole outside of the car including removing all imperfections (dents, dings, rust), shaving antenna, adding '93-94 air dam, painting all black trim, shaving and adding new emblems, and getting keyless entry installed. It could have costed much more if I'd wanted a pearl, metallic, or candied paint job or if I'd wanted them to do everything including door jambs, trunk, engine bay, etc. I'm pretty satisfied with the way it looks now.
