I have done a search with the search option on this site as well as a few other Nissan sites. Here is my problem, I have been looking for a cold air induction kit for my car for the last few months.

It seems that the companies that I found, no longer have a kit for the 2001 SR20DE Sentra. There was 2 exceptions on E-bay, and they were less then $40 which seemed strange to me.

So, if I buy one of those cheap $40 kits, and order say a filter by itself from someone like K&N, would the filter fit on the piping of the E-bay kits?

Can someone please let me know because I really want to be able to finish up my car. I bought it in 2001, and during the last year I have put an OBX header, along with an HKS catback exhaust, and one of those black wire like grills on the front of the car with some nice 1987 GNX style wheels.

This cold air induction kit is the last part of the puzzle.

If anyone is wondering, the car is a weekend driver and that is why I have owned it so long.

Does this include the piping, or is it just a filter, I'm confused when looking at it: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/customer_part_detail.asp?PartID=368

And is jimwolftechnology the way to go, are there any real horspower gains by going with the cold air kit?

Can someone let me know if there is tubing or just a filter thanks!

That is just for the filter. I would say get the ebay kit if it's only $40. Just make sure there's a spot for the intake sensor so you don't throw any codes.

If you are still looking for a CAI, get the AEM red version for SE-R up to year 2003.. it will fit, you will just have to modify the MAF bracket slightly. If you don't really care about quality then get the ebay special, make sure your splash guard is still intact though because those do not come with bypass valves.

Also, you're gonna want to check that OBX header every now and then for cracks.

sorry but no.

Agreed. I'd bet Charles has a enough patience and reasoning to know that hacking up your bumper is not the best way to go about a CAI... considering he's had his SE for 8 years and has yet to experiment with this mod :)

For you information, after a massive rebuilt and blue print my engine, after adding cold air intake, i does not make significant gains at all, only better low rpm throttle response during hot day n traffic jams.

With or without my DIY cold air intake, I had bitten alot cars for breakfast, you say it's ugly but it does it's job.

IMHO, I dont see a need to spend $$ to buy aftermarket ones to get the effect of power gains with a cold air intake. If u see track cars, they dont even bother to buy AEM or JWT cold air intake, cause that is just marketing gimmick.

^^the real intake to get would be a place racing cai, or hotshot. otherwise you have to fabricate as every other intake that goes into the fender isnt a full 3'', and chokes the motor of air if you have cams. this is proved as with ricer_x_01:

Your findings are in line with what i found out about the AEM CAI. The AEM CAI is probably the most powerful intake for an engine with stock cam. It was tuned and designed around the stock cams.

Changing cams greatly changes the tuning of an intake and exhaust. For an engine with cams, I found that a homemade 3" CAI with the MAF 2/3" of the length away from the TB and a POP at the end of it made anywhere from 6-10 more hp over the AEM. The bigger the cam the more power the homegrown intake made over the AEM.

This is essentialy a short ram intake with a pipe before the maf to get rid of MAF turbulance cause by the filter.

I might be willing to sell my AEM Cold Air, its blue in color. Problem is, I don't have a stock air box to put on.
