: Still no luck..... turbo issues...

The car still won't idle right... It starts... and dies.. and when it does stay running.. it jumps from 500rpm-2000rpm. Here's what I've checked so far..

All vacuum lines checked and zip tied.
MAF ground
TPS signal and ground
ECU ground
IACV
intercooler piping
TB gasket
cam timing
pulled the intake manifold and checked for leaks
fuel pressure

I have the following codes in the ECU...

0201 - Ignition signal Ignition signal in the primary circuit is not entered during engine cranking or running

0707 - Rear oxygen sensor Check the rear oxygen sensor & circuit.

1005 - EGR solenoid valve circuit EGR valve & EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve is open or shorted

The second two shouldn't pose problems... I don't know what the first one is all about. The only things I can think of are.. the crane igntion is bad, or I don't have a hose on right. I have the IACV hose coming from the intake manifold.. back right before the turbo inlet. It's after the MAF though.. I'm stumped here guys.. Any suggestions?

Have you pressurized everything post turbo and checked for leaks? The fluctuating idle sounds like a post MAF leak. What MAF are you running? As far as your ignition.. when I had my MSD Digital 6 on my car it would give me that same trouble code until I installed the MSD tach adapter....

Travis I take it your running a BOV? Did you check to make sure it wasn't leaking? I agree with nsracer it sounds like an unmetered air leak, it would start fine since the ECU ignores MAF signal until after it starts.

I checked for leaks and rerouted my IACV line tonight.. still no luck. I found a few pinhole leaks.. I patched those up.. and now it runs even worse.. when I rev it up when it's cold.. it misses and bogs.. and it runs like shit till it warms up. then it runs sorta halfway decent.. it bogs under any boost. I can smell it running rich... I totaly disconnected the BOV and blocked it off.. the car still wouldn't idle.. Also.. the air/fuel guage is reading lean... but it's definately running rich. The only thing I haven't done.. is check the ECU, MAF and ignition. Also.. the fuel pump.. but I have good pressure.. so I doubt that.

Check your ignition ground. I had a problem like that and it was the ignition.

you know... someone was telling me the same thing a minute ago.. Me and "nismodriver" were talking earlier about that too.. I will try it in the morning..

Travis--

Also be sure to check the wires going into the MAF harness (regardless of what MAF you're running). If those wires are old/frayed/kinked, the car will just barely run. Don't ask me how I know. ;)

Well.... after a talk with Mr. Perry.... that went something like this...

HerdInsider: Distributor? How's the rotor?
EetLessChikin: brand new
HerdInsider: Just humor me: Make sure the rotor is attached to the shaft. A buddy of mine had it come off this weekend. Car just died.
EetLessChikin: damn... I'm glad I decided to humor you
EetLessChikin: the rotor is cooked
HerdInsider: Amen, brother!

I've come to the conclusion that it's the rotor :)

Good call Greg, I *assumed* any good monkey would check those items first ;o) Glad you found the culprit. Travis, gimme a holla and let me know if it solves everything. Talk to ya later.
