: How much would you pay for a parts car???
SentraDude 05-26-2009, 11:49 AM So here is the deal.. I found a 92 G20 for $275 running 240K 5spd / Wrecked in the front. My 93 sentra 1.6 has had better days and the motor is acting up.. I was thinking I could use all the parts from the G20 to swap to sr20, all parts should work right? I can get another low milage motor for $100.. is this a good deal? The only difference is my sentra has a digital speedo and this is cable.... Will the parts from the G20 work in my sentra? Any input is appreciated!
n1smojunkie 05-26-2009, 12:38 PM Thats a lot of mileage if its the original motor and trans. Not really worth it unless you want to part the p10 out and try to make your money back. Just get an sr and tranny and swap it in.
ruppenduro 05-26-2009, 12:52 PM idk man, i think i would hold out. i have bought 3 parts cars, all for less than $400 and all had less than 140k (2 se-rs and one nx2000) with 240k i doubt that engine/tranny has much left in it, plus the g20 trans isn`t the greatest. most don`t have lsd, and they have those longer gears. besides the eng/trans, there isn`t much that you will get off of that car for your sentra.
buy the low mileage motor for $100 and find a lower mile lsd tranny for ~$200. then all you will need is an ecu, sr engine harness, crossmember, and axles.
SentraDude 05-26-2009, 01:29 PM Yeah, i know miles are kinda high.. but you would be surprised, there arent that many sr20 cars here, kind of hard to come by. He was asking 600 to start off and so we agreed on 275.. i have till this next weekend to make up my mind.. now i dunno what to do.....
SentraDude 05-26-2009, 09:11 PM Guess it's not a really good deal?
SR20? 05-27-2009, 06:59 PM I know somebody that bought a wrecked classic for 900 bucks. It had a 66k JDM SR20 in it that was still good, though.
ShortyzKustomz 05-28-2009, 10:42 AM How bad is it wrecked?
SentraDude 05-28-2009, 11:23 AM It would need a whole new front end.. including rad support..
daveracer 05-28-2009, 11:47 AM I bought a 5-speed 96 g20 that ran and drove, and wasn't crashed for $240 once. It had a blown radiator and 250k miles. So i dunno, if you're trying to make some cash parting it out, might be worth it....
n1smojunkie 05-28-2009, 11:52 AM Im picking up a 93.5 g20 this weekend with a wrecked front end and good running motor for $50 bucks.
SentraDude 05-28-2009, 12:19 PM Alright.. you talked me out of it! It seems this is not a good deal for me.. Thx PPL! I'm glad I asked.
det-ser92 05-28-2009, 12:35 PM How bad is it wrecked?
That was the car I bought... It was driveable. messed up the hood, fenders, bumper, rad, and upper core support. It had a lot of mods though. Coil-overs, front sway, Top Speed header, AEM cai, good low mile JDM engine, good sun roof, clean interior... so I got my moneys worth

Dude how good Is the car's condition over all? interior, suspension, whatever... 275 for a whole car is not bad. And you have ALL you need. You can do your swap, and can always go back and get an engine and tranny. Pulling the engine and tranny out of the g20 will help with putting it in your sentra. there are some differences in 1.6l and 2.0l set-ups.
I think you should get the car, that way you will have everything you need right there and won't have to deal with finding parts, dealing with people over pricing stuff, and out rageous shipping costs.
If the rest of the car is good, post up some part outs and get enough money to buy a new engine and keep the junk one for a monster build later down the road. Works for me....
