What is the cable that is located parallel to the throttle cable? I just tightened up my throttle cable and thought that maybe the other one should be tightened up as well. Unfortunately I don't know what it is that I may or may not be tightening up (sr20de motor)

Sounds to me like you're talking about the cable for the cruise control.

I'm talking about the cable in the engine compartment that runs the length of the valve cover, with the throttle cable and then splits off on its own after the valve cover on the passenger side of it.

Both cables have the same adjusting nuts at the end, and I was thinkin of tightening this miscelaneous cable because it is significantly more loose than my throttle cable.

Purist what car is it? Sound like it is the CC. Does it turn and go to the firewall?

94 se-r. Yes it does. Unless I am mistaken, it appears to head into some kind of black container that is attached to the firewall on the driver's side.

Yeah thats the Cruise Control. IT won't make that much of a difference if it is loose. I usually just finger tightem mine. When you are at speed and turn it on the cable tightens and holds the TB at that spot.

Like Aaron said its the cruise, but I found that if I tightened the cable some, the cruise was faster to respond when I set it. The black box is the vacuum box isn't it? I could be wrong, but I think thats what it is

I guess that is what it is. I removed mine and the hose going to it is just a vacc. hose. I have actually removed all of the stuff for the CC. If I ever get my car to run right again, I am going to use the switch on the dash to enable the Nitrous and the horn button to inject it.
