: Refinishing window trim?

The black trim around the windows on my NX is cracked and peeling with bare metal in some spots.

I'm thinking about sanding the trim down trying to refinish it with some undercoat spray, truck bed liner stuff or just plain spray paint. I'm not too crazy about any of those options though.

Anyone ever try to refinish their trim? Any suggestions on what to refinish it with?

sand it down with 1000 grit and spray it with duplicolor trim paint. this stuff is great. i did all my trim with it and it looks like brand new and it dries in like 5 min. it doesnt have a spray paint look to it. it looks factory.

How long has it been since you painted it? How's it holding up?

My concern with spray paint was that it wouldn't last.

I used the same stuff on my NX trim pieces and it lasted about 2 years before a few chips began to show again. I didn't do a spectacular job sanding it down, to tell the truth, so if you put the work into it, I don't see why it wouldn't last longer.

I am doing this now.
I got self etching duplicolor primer,it helps it stick to the bare metal.I will follow that with the duplicolr bumper paint.
I have experimented on some spare parts with spray paints and spray bedliner and was not happy with the results.
The biggest problem is it sticking to the metal. Also the bedliner stuff was too gritty and rough.

I may try to post a thread with pics .I am finishing this real soon.

its only been a couple of months. i did all my trim, my door handles and my side mirrors. i looks as good as it did the day that i did it. and i use this stuff called nu vinyl for the interior and i tried it on the exterior and it looks great. it doesnt have that greasy look like armorall. it makes the surface look hydrated.

Thanks again for the good deal o those...Actually I already repainted them already with the bumper trim paint. They came out nice.
I am not having any luck finding the rear pieces in good shape,so I am just gonna try to refinish the ones on the car.
