My wife and I want to sell off our 1993 Nissan Sentra SE-R. Problem is, I'm pretty sure the ECU is dead (this is an estimated guess based on a similar ECU fail on an SR20 in a different car I own, I have yet to get an official diagnosis). My main question is what could I do to cheaply repair this myself? What part/s should I ask for for this engine type and is it recommended to find a used ECU at a junk yard? I'm used to taking computers apart and putting them back together, is this going to be a simple project for me or a frustration? We would appreciate any advice, all our mechanic buddies are flakes and we're trying to become more self sufficient with our cars.

The ecu is under your center console area, under the radio sitting on top of the hump. It takes a 10 mm and a screw driver to remove. You should disconnect the battery before you remove it.

I haven't heard of any ecu's failing. They come up for sale pretty often.

I'm guessing the car doesn't run?
