: turbo 200, wantin turbo 240
ITR_KILLR 09-05-2002, 01:39 AM I already have a turbo 200, but I'm thinkin about gettin a 91 240 as my project car. What are the major differences in parts needed to make a 240 fast vs. my 200? ( will use an S13, or S14 DET) like, does the Maf need to be replaced with cobra, TTZ, etc. any help would be appreciated. Also, how hard would it be to put an S15 front end on a 91 240? does it bolt up, or what mods does it take?
JayLew 09-05-2002, 01:05 PM The major differences between the 200 vs 240 is that you dont need to beef up your tranny, you can run 12's easier with the T25, and you dont need to reprogram your ECU.
If your using an S13 as the donor car, then buy an S13 engine for the ease of wiring. Just be carefull when buying a RWD DET, its easy to get ripped off, I highly recomend buying a clip vs. buying the engine alone.
No you dont need to change the MAF unless you plan on making over 260HP (the stock MAF can only read 260). But my neighbor is running 12.7's with far less hp.
And Im pretty sure someone makes a kit for the S15 front end conversion. I dont know who though.
ITR_KILLR 09-05-2002, 01:56 PM If I were going to buy another FWD DET I would go through JGY, who is the best to get a silvia front clip, or complete engine? If i wanted to make say 350-400whp(streetable), what is the best way to do it. I am going to be using an INCON GTBB37 turbo on my 200, what are my turbo options on a 240 (I'm sure there are more than for a 200)
ITR_KILLR 09-05-2002, 10:52 PM come on! where's the silvia people when you need em?

Dre was trying to sell one to my neighbor for $1600. He said its a direct bolt up and that it will put out 300+hp @ 15lbs.
It also has a internal/divoriced wastegate, which is good because you can get someone to weld a dump tube to the wastegate which will allow the gate to blow off into the atmosphere instead of being plumbed back.
As far as the engines go. There was a guy on here (the 240 section) selling RWD DET's for $2200 shipped anywhere. Thats the best Ive seen. You might want to do a search and find out who it was. Your next best but gonna be more expensive are Venus auto and HT.
Heavythrottle.com sells front clips, and they are reputable. But when my neighbor bought his engine from them, the guy who delivered it asked us how much we paid for it and then we told him $2400, his exact words were: "Wow you got ripped off".
ITR_KILLR 09-06-2002, 07:11 AM I'm going to be using the INCON on a GTIR manifold on my 200. If the Incon is a direct bolt on to the Silvia manifold, what would it take to make a BLITZ LM fmic fit the turbo, also, should I use 50LB inj @ 4bar on the Silvia, and who makes a fuel rail to fit the top feed inj? What maf should I use for this power level, Z32?
(Love my 200, but really want rear wheel drive!!!!!!!!!!!)

(Love my 200, but really want rear wheel drive!!!!!!!!!!!) To make the Blitz IC fit, you just need a new Hot IC pipe, a new downpipe and possiblely a custom O2 housing (if they dont include that part in the DP).
50lbs with a 4 bar should work (and would be your safest bet), but if I were going to do it, I would use the GReddy Emanage. But thats me. Im not sure who makes a fuel rail for the top feed, and the Z32 MAF will work, but I think they start to top out on there readable HP somewhere around 400. (not positive though).
As far as the INCON goes, the one Dre showed us bolted right up. Im not sure if it was the BB37 though, Ill have to double check to see which one it was. Either way he said it could produce 300+hp @ 15lbs, so Im almost positive it was the 37.
ITR_KILLR 09-06-2002, 12:32 PM So if I was going to use a larger than stock turbo on a 240, I would it would be a waste to buy a FMIC kit, since i would require new I/C piping? what setup are the fastest street 240's using? does anyone make a complete turbo upgrade kit to get you to 350+ hp, or do you have to piece it together yourself? also, I'm used to JWT programming my ecu for me, whats the most effective fuel managment for the 240, Is E-Manage easy to use?
thanks for all the help

thanks for all the help If your going to upgrade to a OTHER than stock turbo, it is very well worth your time to buy a pre fabbed FMIC, such as the BLITZ LM. Since the hot IC pipe is not included in the Blitz FMIC anyway. If you were planning on changing the intake manifold then I would say no, go ahead and make your own piping/kit. Heres a picture of what Im talking about:

The pipes that do come with the kit are: the pipe to the intake, the pasenger fender pipe, the IC itself, and the driver side fender pipe. Blitz's assumes that you already have the hot IC pipe form the factory, which you would if your car was a JDM silvia/180sx.
The Emanage isnt as easy to use as the JWT because JWT is plug and play. I just like the options that the Emanage offer, like changing injectors with no down time ETC.....Do a search in the Turbo forum to find out more about the Emanage.
Turbo kits: GReddy makes one, Heavythrottle.com has one, veilside has one, Tomei I think has one.
