Anyone have any idea why my mileage would suddenly drop around the same time I can hear a bearing-like sound coming from the engine bay? I'm thinking it may be my alternator again, but I don't see why my mileage would drop!

Just an update...I took a really good listen underneath the hood tonight. I think it may have to do with the injectors. Does that shed any light? I really must say, my mileage is horrible now. I usually have around 150 miles on the OD by half a tank on the guage, right now it's at 75 at the half way mark for the second fill in a row!!!
Maybe it's time to pull some codes for the first time......

On behalf of the mileage part are you still putting in the same amount of gas? My car has the faulty sending unit and I get only about 100 miles out of the 1st. 1/2 of the tank, and I run it well past Empty to get my 300 miles on a tank.

No, my mileage is down around 17 mpg in the city. That's horrible! Especially considering I drove to Ct a few weeks ago and got 35 mpg with mostly highway and a little city driving. And I've been very nice to the car as of late:)

Usually its the O2 that mainly control good and bad gas. I change my O2 every time I bought a used car. Try change the spark plugs, use the injector cleaner( yeah, 1.99 really help). Then the final blows, the 90 bucks O2 sensor.

Another good try at finding the noise has led me to pinpoint it to the belt area! It's a constant humming-squeel type of noise. I'm figuring it must be a bearing or something. I was thinking maybe the water pump. But, I haven't lost all that much fluid. I'm not sure what else could be the case.....

There is a TSB warning against using injector cleaner, so you might not want to use it. Aparrently Redline injector cleaner is safe, so if you use one, Id use the stuff from Redline.

I brought the car to my mechanic. He said that it's my water pump and some front seals. I'm not sure what the heck he means by the seals (unless they're for the pump). He's gonna call me tomorrow with the price quote and all that good stuff. Anyone know how much this will set me back? I'm figuring around $400.
