Been thinking about building an S13 for a while and wanted to know how much HP the tranny can hold before they start to break. I have heard they are pretty bulletproof, but some actual ballpark numbers would be nice to have.
Thanks.

Damn DSM guyz hahaha. I heard they are pretty strong, but I too have no numbers on it. They have to be stronger than a AWD dsm's. Can't wait to get mine installed in my 240 :D I'll have 2 bases covered. AWD an RWD :D

ohh yeah forgot about him. I know they have gear sets that u can buy too. Shouldn't be too hard to find any since the RWD DET gets lots of love in japan.

Silvia trannys are supposed to reach there breaking point at 400+ hp.
Kinda like 3rd gear in 200sx tranny's when it see's about 250hp, it may not break right away, but it will eventually.

Hehe.. for some reason I always thought it was Sylvia and not Silvia. I just never bothered to check until now :)
If they break at 400hp that wouldn't be much stronger than an AWD DSM tranny if at all. My project car would be making well in excess of that so if that's all they can handle that's not good.
What kind of aftermarket tranny options are there and how much do they cost?

Quaife (spelling???) makes a gearset for $2200.
