Sorry if this is already posted but is an automatic ecu carrying more hp on a ka24de than a manual ka ecu? A mechanic once told me this to sell me an ecu + harness; I know the auto ecu will work on a manual so how much different will this ecu be than the reg. manual. If the extra hp exists then does that same principal have the same effect on any Nissan. I’m up late with a wiring nightmare wondering if the damn ecu is worthy.
thanks, d

That doesnt even make sense. Why would an ecu have "more hp"? Usually auto ecu's are more restrictive than a manual ecu.

Personally being in a SOHC KA24E powered s13 with both type of ECUs installed (both manual and automatic), the automatic ECU gave the vehicle ability for more wheelspin when shifting to second gear. On this particular vehicle, maybe the automatic ECU gave it more fuel. Just putting input on experience.

Technically speaking, if your engine producing 100hp, chances are :-
Manual Transmission : 85bhp, 70whp (20-25% power looses)
Auto Transmission : 70bhp, 55whp (30-40% power losses)
BUT, according to my experience, automatic tranny with the correct tuning, is superb for auto-crossing. The best time in my local auto-crossing events are almost 70% crowned on automatic cars beating manual tranny in same engine displacement category.

Installing a device to remove rev-limiter would help

From the looks of it the auto ecu on my manual may have better response because the gearing of the auto tranny is less efficient mechanically, so compensating is crucial :melonscratcher: worth a second look. I’m too much in debt with this project to buy the 500 dollar jwt stuff, but it looks like there's been some good electricians beating the jwt price, I think bout 300 for the same remap. plz share more, & thanks for the tips
