Thats him. I put a shift cable in it the day before the meet. Got a nice slice on my left hand from it. I can't say any thing bad about the guy, i have no issues with him. Everyone makes their money somehow i guess.
The car is neat, I drove it. It aint a classic though.
llaprad1 06-19-2009, 01:48 AM You're too nice Mark!! :)
det-ser92 06-19-2009, 11:49 AM Yeah, nice doesn't get me paid apparently.
llaprad1 06-19-2009, 01:42 PM I personally wouldn't have let you fix my car for free if I knew I was going to flip it for a few thousand dollars pure profit. I would have forced you to take even just a few hundred dollars, out of courtesy.
I think that's what a semi-honorable person would have done in his situation.
MR-4Door-SR20DET 06-19-2009, 02:51 PM ^Bingo.
det-ser92 06-19-2009, 04:07 PM He gave me 40. lol for like 3 hours of work layin on scorchin asphault... more than what I usually get though. I usually work, not charge, and expect people to be kind and pay me out of the goodness of their heart what it is worth to them. I work for free in other words. So next time I work on their stuff, it costs them a WHOLE BUNCH of money in parts that they didn't know was messed up. then I leave them stranded if half and parts isn't paid up front.
llaprad1 06-19-2009, 05:46 PM I just don't like seeing any of my friends get taken advantage of.
This situation was supremely unique in that this guy wouldn't have been stranded. This was a resale vehicle for him. And...if this is how he makes money, then he should especially know better than to mooch labor off of people.
Assembler 06-19-2009, 06:52 PM det-ser92, if you're ever in the Atlanta, GA area, I could use some help with some minor things on my car (e.g. installing an axle and motor mounts, foaming the chassis--things I've never done before).
...why did you get canned?

Yeah, I see your point. I love helping people if they're stranded. When I left work the last day, I pulled over for 3 out of 6 people that we're stranded. If I had business cards or something to write on, I would be doing some tranny work on a taurus right now. And that was just a stretch from lavergne to m-boro. Oh well.
I really need some work

Long story short, my supervisor doesn't like me because I don't put up with his ignorance. He is an idiot. If you meet him, you'd agree. But theyve been looking for a reason to fire me since the beginning of the year. I had to go to South GA monday for Court from that wreck I was in last month. My boss knew I had to go and I took a vacation day. I also told him since the court was at night, that I might not make it in tuesday. Tues am 7:30, I called and said I might be in town around lunch and will call, but since I have been driving all night and haven;t slept, I might not make into work. Well I got in town at one, didn't call, and feel asleep. The next day they asked me to quit or I get fired because I'm "undependable". Yum
I can travel to ATL, I have nothing better to do. Will I need to bring tools? Will there be money involved? I will be heading down there for court july 20, I can swing by your place before or after if you would like some help. Let me know, I'll be strugglin soon

Barring any unforeseen circumstances (i.e. I lose my car or I get laid off), July 20th sounds good. Of course I will pay you (free food and drink, too). Like I mentioned before, off the top of my head I know I need a new axle installed and would like to switch in my new motor mounts. I'll PM you very soon on details.
Oh, and keep your head up, man. Losing a job isn't the worst thing that could happen--you'll make it through.
SR20? 06-20-2009, 01:15 AM mark, i'll let you do that battery in the trunk for 20. i just don't know how to do it because i don't understand it.
