i need to replace my valve cover gasket...its leaking...
i searched previous posts and it seems pretty simple but do i need to replace the spark plug gasket/seals at the same time? because you need to pull the plugs to pop the vc gasket right?
thanks!

im planning to do it either this weekend or the next...

I did my VC gasket not too long ago, it took about 40 minutes, taking my time and installing a new, polished VC. I removed the plugs because I was also installing new ones. It shouldn't make a difference...
My VC was kinda stuck on there after the bolts were removed, so I just lighly tapped on it with a rubber mallet until the seal broke. It's not difficult at all. Hope this helps!
great! it helps alot...so it shouldnt make a difference if i dont replace the plug seals.
thanks for the info!

Well, why not replace them while you're in there? It's probably like 5 more dollars for the plug seals. It would suck if they started leaking after you did just the VC gasket. Oil on the plugs wouldn't be good at all IMO. :)
haha...i would, but i already did a few weeks ago when i replaced my plugs and wires...i guess i really should have done the VC at the same time.
you think its a good idea to replace them again just in case?

Well, if they've already been replaced, I guess it wouldn't really be necessary again. I'm hoping my new seals will last me till 300k. :D
Good luck to you

Dude! The same thing happened to me TWICE! Tell them to look for the correct gaskets listed with the HEAD and not the cover! Thats the mistake they made TWICE! Hope this helps.

Don't forget to remove the bolt in the center of the VC before trying to lift it!
yeah...i did the job already...it was the gasket for the center bolt that the dealership gave me 4 of instead of 4 for the spark plugs...
anywho...for those planning to do the job...dont forget to retorque the bolts back on in the right pattern...from inside out in a x.
